SteveV Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Any one with this issue. I picked this up cheap from Ezy DVD but no matter how many times I try it, it always freezes up on last chapter. All other chapters are fine. My player is the HD-A1 with latest 2.4 firmware. Looks like a bad disc. Thx all.
50mxe20 Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Have you looked at the surface under a good light. I had shooter fail on me 3 times the other night (source: Amazon). It was brand new and shrink wrapped. Yet close inspection revealed a fingerprint in one area and a smudge of something elsewhere. Gave it a bit of a clean with a soft tissue and put it back in the the HD-DVD player and it went fine after that.

I seem to remember Evan Almighty having a similar problem as discussed here. I think that was down to a faulty disc. Perhaps these batch of "cheapies" are a bit off. Steve.
MACCA350 Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Use a disc cleaner, apparently some have a build up of resin or something like that that just cleans off. cheers
AndrewW Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 never had a problem with Shaun, Evan almighty appears to be a disc mastering problem.
SDL Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Have the disc and have watched about half of it, never gotten to the last chapter, just haven't had time. I might try it over the weekend but have had it for some time so not much I can do if its faulty.
jutta Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 (edited) Right on MACCA Silicon release compound is used in the making of the cases. This can leave an unseen residue on the disc surface. Try some warm water with a dash of detergent. This silicon release spray can be clearly seen on some cases Edited July 3, 2008 by Jutta
nting Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 I can report that I was able to watch my Shaun of the Dead with no issues. Movie (100%) + all extras that I watched (around 80% of them). I was using the 360 HDDVD addon.
