MitreBin Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 (edited) Is the Opentel 4000IR still able to pick up Austar with a genuine subscription card? I sold mine 12 months ago after getting rid of SelecTV, but fancy another go at a 4 way switch and piking up D1, D2 and 1 Whatever along with the Austar. Just looking for a cheapie that does everything- MitreBin Edited July 3, 2008 by MitreBin
Douglas Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 As DrP said, no. But here's the long answer: A while back, a couple of months ago I think, Austar did something (revolve the frequencies? I'm not sure, DrP knows more about this than me!) that knocked out most pirate cards. Thing is, it also knocked out 3rd party set top boxes. Now, I've never seen the point in 3rd party boxes (Davmel can attribute to this), but some people liked them. There was a bit of uproar on here, arguments (again, Davmel and I had one). So, there is why you can't use your Opentel box.
