lum Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 This would be used in the bedroom mainly for the xbox 360 and watching movies by using it as a monitor for the computer. Should I look for a 720p one or would a full hd one be beneficial for the computer/movie/series experience? also, big noob question, but just wondering if the newer sony 32" have computer input (vga/dvi,) all i saw was HD15 / PC Audio Input: x1?? well, i'm not super fussed how good the picture quality is, as long as it looks fairly decent to an untrained eye I'm happy. With that taken account of, what's my best bet? To get an older model or what? A while ago it's was the Pana 32 700A that was the best, but is that necessary for my case? and just out of curiosity has there been a better 32" panel out? (apart from the 800a) thanks!
Falken Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 If you watch movies or TV Series that in AVI format or divx, you don't need Ful HD resolution at all. Most of the new LCD model in these day will have DVI input or you may get an DVI to HDMI cable for it, but DVI input do not receive audio. The other option is gest a graphics card which have hdmi output to solve this problem. Samsung LCD TV may more suitable for your needs compare to Sony and Sharp's LCD. Personally I perfer Sharp AQUOS, but for computer use Samsung may be a better choice. JB Hifi are on sale right now 10% till Sunday, have a look around and compare the prices and specification.

Full HD sucks for watching downloaded movies. It has way too much resolution and makes the movies appear crappy. All Sonys, Samsungs, Sharp and LGs have PC input. There shouldn't be any issues in connecting a PC directly to any LCD or plasma currently on the market. Stable (flicker-free) resolution may come down from 1366X768 to 1280X768 depending on the graphics card but that's about it. 1280X768 is better for watching movies anyway.

korrupt Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 I've been looking at the 32" Panasonic LCD recently. Can't remember the exact model, but it ends in 700A. I'm going to check prices on the weekend.
