ellave Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 I signed up to Foxtel through telstra as only being new to the Country I was unaware how crap telstra is. Am I able to change my account over to so I can speak direct with Foxtel instead of calling Telstra & holding for 30 minutes while they ignore everything I ask of them

For all intents and purposes they are the same and you will wait the same amount of time. Foxtel customer service regularly gets bagged here (of course you hear the bad stuff - people rarely post to say how good their experience was)

Keep in mind that Telstra own 50% of Foxtel.
tomlc Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 I signed up to Foxtel through telstra as only being new to the Country I was unaware how crap telstra is. Am I able to change my account over to so I can speak direct with Foxtel instead of calling Telstra & holding for 30 minutes while they ignore everything I ask of them hey , I am via Telstra but I only ever ring Foxtel . Never rung Telstra once and never been told by Foxtel to ring Telstra. Have only ever rung when had a few problems with the old box freezing , then to cut back my package from Platinum to Basic and then again to get IQ. Foxtel handled all requests and except for that period where you got told to ring back as too busy and hung up on you, havent had a problem with Foxtel staff. Foxtel programming on the other hand wont go into as thats another thread ( or many threads ) .

Am I able to change my account over to so I can speak direct with Foxtel instead of calling Telstra & holding for 30 minutes while they ignore everything I ask of them Foxtel are worse at times. You also won't get the benefit of the 50 or 100 free calls a month or whatever the deal is. I am on the old plan and get 10% off my Bigpond and Foxtel.
ellave Posted July 2, 2008 Author Posted July 2, 2008 OK guess I will just persist with them. Pretty sure though I called Foxtel direct once & I got told I had to go through Telsta, maybe I just had a fussy employee. My issues is that since givng me my first month for free I have been trying to remove channels from my package & it still hasn't happenend 3 months later & they keep billing me for all the channels.

It depends on what you are ringing about and who to ring about your particular issue is outlined very clearly on the telstra web site -> https://www.telstra.com.au/foxtel/contactus.cfm There billing is shithouse, but they will credit you eventually. You just need to be a bit persistant and patient. Edited July 3, 2008 by cnrmlj
agentsmith Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 (edited) Um you can ring foxtel for all foxtel related things if you a standard foxtel cust... yet if your a telstra customer that has foxtel. then foxtel can help you with some technical issues but no account issues....they operate as 2 separate companies, ta Edited July 3, 2008 by agentsmith
BamBBBam Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 I don't see what all the fuss about Foxtel service is. Simply ring early in the morning, before everyone else. Very little waiting at that time.

Foxtel customer service regularly gets bagged here (of course you hear the bad stuff - people rarely post to say how good their experience was) I would say that they are generally quite good. It was a bit frustrating trying to get through after their admin system upgrade but in the handful of times I've had to call, they have mostly been quite good! Edited July 14, 2008 by redhenry
fezboy Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 is there any technical difference between foxtel and telstra/foxtel? also are there any advantages of one over the other?
sydmos Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 is there any technical difference between foxtel and telstra/foxtel? also are there any advantages of one over the other? No idea on technical but would assume none ? Only reason I went via Telstra was the bundling of services ie my phone/broadband/foxtel and I get a 10% discount off my broadband, foxtel, certain phone calls. But am considering dumping Bigpond. I dont know about anyone else their email has to be the worst I have ever used. Anyone else ? I ended up starting up a Hotmail account instead but still occassionaly use the bigpond as I signed up for some things and yet to change the email addresses over.
cnrmlj Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 You get the same signal, telstra only take care of the billing. The advantage is that you can get a bundled deal with telstra - free sms's or phone calls. http://www.telstra.com.au/foxtel/why.cfm Why anyone who has foxtel and has a landline with telstra would not also get their foxtel from telstra absolutely astounds me. It is a no brainer.

I have had Bigpond email for over 2.5 years & in that time I have never received one unsolicited email or SPAM email in my inbox, so I am quite happy with the service.
big_guy Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I would say that they are generally quite good. It was a bit frustrating trying to get through after their admin system upgrade but in the handful of times I've had to call, they have mostly been quite good! We are having problems with Testra with getting an upgrade from a standard box and and IQ1 to 2 IQ2's On Friday 19th Sept we rang to book the upgrade. Got a trainee and after 20 mins of holding said that he could not do it and transferred us to another person and after another 40 minutes the lady said that she could not confirm an instalment date as their system was down and that someone would contact us shortly with an instalment date. Wednesday 24th September, having not had a phone call from Telstra yet, we called them and at the same time we decided to keep our IQ1 and only update the standard box. One hour later we are still on hold and the person said that the changes have been recorded but the system is still down and that we will be contacted as soon as possible as they have marked our file as a priority? we did get a job number to quote in the future. Wednesday 1st October, still no call from Telstra, so we call them again, system still down and the man from Telstra is making a big deal about us changing the standard box because he reckons it is not the main box ?? but the IQ1 we have is. Finally convinced him that the standard box was installed first and the IQ1 second, another hour on the phone but again no date set for the upgrade, they will contact us Is Foxtel as bad as Telstra and what happened to the exeptional customer service that they were promoting when the HD came out. Must not apply to Telstra.

Must not apply to Telstra. Friday 10th October, finally get a call back from Telstra book update to IQ2 and I would like Platinum HD. The guy puts it into the computer and then it crashes ( ONCE AGAIN). He says he will get back to us asap. About a hour later he calls back and we get a date for the change over - 25th October. He then said that the problem with the computer was that it could not handle two tasks at the same time ie the upgrading of the box and the upgrading to Platinum HD. I said I thought that most people when they upgraded to an IQ2 that the main reason would be to view the HD channels. Anyway after the IQ2 is installed we then have to contact Telstra (AGAIN) and change our package to Platinum HD. Has anyone who has upgraded to HD have had to do this or I am I just the unlucky one.
BamBBBam Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 I currently get Foxtel thru Telstra. What happens if I dump Telstra, ie get the n*ked DSL through iinet or similar?
