Devoran Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Guys - as I posted earlier in this thread... save yourself some pain and download the update direct from: http://au.playstation.com/support/ps3/faqs...e_updates.jhtml If you use a download manager, you can max your connection out and get it in no time. Then just follow the instructions to put it on a USB stick and update that way.
com59841503560232 Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 2.41 on mine and no probs. same! but i do love that we get an option to download it ...not. I jumped on last night for a quick fix of cod4 and instead had to wait 20 min for stupid download
Neon Kitten Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Those who already have 2.40 on their system will actually have less pain if they download ON the PS3 itself. What I noticed was that the download zoomed up to 40% and started from there, crawled at normal speed to about 65% and then zoomed up to 100%. It was done in less than a minute. I presume from this that the PS3 method of updating firmware only grabs the updated sections that it needs.
mad89 Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 2.41 downloaded and installed via thumbdrive. Im yet to test out its features or with a game etc. But it all went smoothly and seems fine so far. Will report back later.

bernng Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 nope, still took around an hour for me. Mine took only 10 mins max. I'm on ADSL2+. Don't blame PS3. Blame your ISP!!
swordfish805 Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 nope, still took around an hour for me. Dump your ISP - that's a disgrace (or are you on dial-up with the phone line running through a microwave oven?)
goosagichy2135 Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 you were not downloading a large file while upgrading your ps3?
Neon Kitten Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Those of you with slow downloads of firmware - have you made sure that UPnP is active on your router and available to the PS3 (it's listed in the connection status page in the Network Settings section) or at least manually forwarded the PS3's default port? With UPnP active I've never had an issue with the speed of PSN downloads in general, not even firmware.
