bfi2906 Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 (edited) Hi all, I'm a long time visiter, first time poster, so please be gentle. I'm new to all this stuff. My family just gave me a Pansonic TH-50PZ700a for my birthday. the guy came and st it up yesterday, and I have to say it's impressive. But then again, we've been using a CRT until now. When the guy was setting it up, he noticed it was missing the remote - which he's oranising to get to us. As this is a first for us, I have a few questions I'm hoping I can get answered. - Would not having the remote have limited the extent to which he could "set up" the TV? - We are in a very poor FTA reception area, so we watch it via Foxtel - is it worth going to the expense & trouble of getting FTA digital? Is FTA digital HD digital or SD digital? - Reading some of the related threads here, am I right is saying that there are some accepted (and seemingly simple) settings that can get a better PQ than either leaving it as it comes out of the box, or trying to tweak all the different variables? If so, can someone give me a simple list of the concensus view of what get's the best result? Thanks all -- I'm sure I'll have more questions as I get into this new world more. Thanks again. All he probly did Is an auto search to store all the channels ! then its pretty much up to you to organise a favourites list ( when you get the remote ) 2. Stick with Foxtel, Have you got IQ/IQ2 ? 3. Turn off Dynamic Picture mode !!! ( when you get the remote ) But P.Q comes down to personal Preference ! I have my Panny set as follows - Picture mode: Cinema - Brightness: 55% - Constrast: 60% - Colour Temp: warm - Sharpness: about 60%... Approx. settings U need the remote ! I find it pretty strange it was delivered without 1...
