Hey guys,

I've currently got a 5.0 setup that I purchased a little while ago, and now I'm looking to add a little punch to it with a subwoofer. The current kit consists of the Dynaudio Audience 42's as the fronts and centre, with the Monitor Bronze BFX providing the rear entertainment. After reading a little on the forum, the Krix Seismix sounded like the go, and the Seismix 5, although large, seemed like a grand step up from the 3. In terms of the prices, what would one be expecting to get after a little bargaining, especially in our end of financial year times? I'm in Melbourne, so I'd be looking at either Clef Hi-Fi or Soundair.

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of prices have people got so far? What should I be expecting to pay for the Seismix 5?

Thank you for any help and advice.

Do a search for SVS subs, and check out some of their reviews before making a decision.

Peter from deephzaudio.com (in Melbourne as well i think) will help you out with some 'punch'.

Actually its supposed to be more like slam.

Good luck

Thanks for the reply Bob, I'll check out the SVS subs. From reading one of the other posts, it appears that Velodyne are also quite popular in the sub $1500 bracket.

By the way, for those looking, the RRPs for the Krix subwoofers:

Seismix 3 = $999

Seismix 5 = $1800

Not sure how much you could knock off, but considering they are Australian, it'd be more than some of the others I'd imagine.

Thanks.

I've not listened or compared either of them, so perhaps i'm not the best person to give advice, but i've read heaps of reviews from around the world on SVS subs and i reckon they're the best bang for buck available.

You can get the PB12-NSD for around $1250 i think, and Peter (deephzaudio) said that it would be more than enough for my room of 4*8m

I haven't got Wifie approval yet to buy, but i'm still working on it.

Hopefully i'll have one soon.

Hi,

I have the Seismix 3 and can definitely vouch for the quality of the Krix subs. My only advice would be to be careful not to go overboard with the sub. Not knowing the room type and dimensions etc, just make sure the 5 isn't too much for it. At least I found that with my room. I have my Seismix 3 in a pretty square room with 3 1/2 solid walls around it and the bass I get from my sub is magnificent!!

And as with most things, they are bigger once you get them home!! So I didn't really have the room for the 5.

But great choice in sub mate, highly recommended!

have to put +1 for the SVS PB12-NSD. for the money i don't believe you can get a sub with the same attack and clarity as this one. My brother bought one on a whim, but i think his gamble well and truly paid off.

how does the SVS compare with the velodyne cht-12r? i am looking for a sub around the $1000 mark and was planning on getting the velodyne but now im not so sure. also heard good things about hsu subs (particularly the vtf-3) but i cant find an aussie dealer on the net anywhere to get an idea of prices.
