Mjr69 Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Last week I received this boxset: http://www.amazon.com/Dirty-Harry-Ultimate...5409&sr=8-1 It raises the standard for deluxe packaging in a nice thick dark sepia and brass foil box. Inside are 7 discs - all 5 movies (DH gets a 2 disc set) in 2 each x 3 disc foldout holders and a new doco "American Masters Profile - Clint Eastwood" on the remaiing disc in another case. There is also a nice hard bound 40 page colour photo book, lobby cards a poster map of San Francisco with locations and a replica inspector's badge and ID fold which all fit inside a box inside the outer sleeve. Also nice marketing on the cover sleeve is a magnum chamber embossed with six "bullets' - one for each movie and one for the WB logo. I have only watched the first movie and the special features on DH so far and the picture is amazing. Warners were going all out in remastering these movies and were set to release on SD DVD, HD DVD and BR. Unfortunately now no HD DVD release. Having no PR player I am happy with the upscaled SD DVD and I can't imagine the image to be much better on PR. Being real critical some of the longshots are a little soft but I was happy with minimal grain in the night shots. After not seeing the movie for many years it still holds up pretty well in as much as society still seems to look after the crims instead of the victims which is the main message throughout the movie. The 1970s fashions and everyone driving around in old Ford Galaxies made me smile. So far so good - nice to add to the collection...
eyeinthesky Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 My copy landed today. Must say, am most impressed by the packaging. Gave 2 movies a quick scan, and looks and sounds great.
