Well I am the lucky winner of the Elektra on ebay. I picked it up today. I'll be eating 2 min noodles for the next month but thats the price we pay for this hobby. I gave it a quick blast with my old Denon 2805 and cd player. I nearly blew my bloody ears off. I had it turned down, and when I turned it up...... nothing. After some troubleshooting I flicked the 12v trigger switch and it came to life, with my ear right next to the speaker and I had forgotten to turn it down again. The dog took off quick smart too. Anyway, after the initial shock subsided and my ear stopped ringing I got down to listening to some songs. It sounded excellent however I didn't realize how good until I went to say something and I couldn't hear myself ( yes, I talk to myself). I usually don't go that loud because it sounds too harsh in my room. Well this time it didn't. So I think it was actually the AVR distorting at high volume and not just bad room acoustics. Then to reaffirm how loud it was, my neighbour sent an sms asking to back it off just a bit because his house, which is about 8m away, was vibrating. Now thats what I call a great amp. Now I just need a Pre, Doh!!

nice pick up Coops; with all this talk about how good these power amps are I may well be eating 2 minute noodles in the foreseeable future as well.:blink:

Nice work Coops, i went from Rotel to Elektra, and while sonicly very similar(IMO) the Elektra deffinatly more pleasing to the eye, and takes up alot less space pound for pound(watt for watt) compared to the Rotels.

Good to hear your pleased with it.

Seperate power amps definetly make a big improvement, particularly at loud levels.

Congrats on a good buy !!
