WOW, I didn't even realise there was an update out.

Guess I will have to update tonight and see if I notice any difference.

OK, updated tonight. Haven't noticed any differences (better or worse) so far, other than needing to input the region free remote hack again for SD DVDs.

OK I jus updated by ethernet as well and had to re-enter the region free hack for DVD's as well.

This time as I did it, I noticed that it did display the current region number before I changed the region to "9".

my mate had got V for vendetta on blu-ray from amazon and tried it on his bd-p1400 on 1.5 firmware and it didn't work.

updated the firmware to 1.8 and now it works like a charm.

good on samsung.

Do we know what this firmware update changes? Does it make the BDP1400 profile 1.1?

The only thing I can find is on the Samsung USA site stating that it "improves playback compatability".

I don't have any discs that make use of profile 1.1 to test, but I think it's pretty unlikely that the new firmware had upgraded the profile.

Hi, I'm not optimistic that this has changed the profile, I think it just allows 'trouble-discs' to play.

I had Batman Begins from US that wouldn't play properly, I then loaded 1.8 on and now it works fine. But DAMN, it takes FOREVER to load. I do wish they could do something in the firmware to shorten the load times.

If anyone from Samsung is reading this, we would like Firmware ASAP, that does:

1) Update to Profile 1.1 (as promised in statements made by your company and as stated in the P1400 specs)

2) Shorten Load Times (if possible)

If anyone wants to add anything else, go ahead, but i'd be happy if just those 2 things could be rectified.

Cheers

Hi All

Just wanted to confirm that the latest firmware 1.8 fixes the stop/pause issue on blu-rays. Before hand if you pressed stop you could not resume - but now you can!!! This is great!!

I've tested it on 2 blu-rays now and it works!

Samsung posted a firmware update (ver 1.8) on their aus website yesterday. There's no documentation on what it fixes or if it adds any new capabilities (like the mythological update to profile 1.1).

Has anyone updated yet, and if so, notice any differences?

All good....not to worry.....got the network settings working finally and it found the website by itself, but took 2 attempts to download.

Version 2.0 appears to be available!

Region hack also worked first attempt (didn't work at all with previous firmware).

anyone tried fw 2.0?

thanks for feedback! :P

Yes loaded 2.0 automatically and works well....region hack worked first time, and Underworld "Lycons" plays (although took almost 2 min to load).
