Hi all,

Since we are starting to get large collections and are slowly watching them, thought it may be a good idea to start a thread for people who want to lend each other HD's. I'm currently ok at the moment, but there are a few that interest me that I'm sure some people have. Any ideas for this as a new thread, or do we think it should go on the scrap heap like the 50+ Norbits at DVDCRAVE (ironically, looking at buying Norbit for $5 posted. PM if wanting to get rid of)

This has been raised before but not taken off.

The problem with the idea is that you can't know how your discs will be treated by people you don't know, I have seen the condition in which some discs are returned to the rental stores and I would hate to see any of my discs come back looking like that.

I lend my discs out to a select handful of members here and I borrow from them in return but they are trusted friends whom I know will treat my discs the same way I treat my discs and theirs as well.

Thanks for the message Kaz,

I think you've hit it on the head. I think I'll do the same as you when it comes to that. We've paid all this money for our collection, do we want to lose it?

Best Regards,

Mathew

In the past I lent discs to friends and was shocked when I sat down to watch my copy of Godfather Part II one day to find the last couple of scenes unwatchable as it had a big scratch across it. The toothpaste trick finally cured the problem, but was a lesson to me that others just don't respect my things as much as I do (the borrower was one of my most trusted friends too). The only people I lend to now, right or wrong, are my parents as I know if they damaged one they would offer to replace it without question. Nothing against anyone here as I'm sure many treasure their discs as much as I do mine and care for them equally as well. But I just feel better knowing I won't have to be upset with someone that borrowed a disc and scratched it.<BR>However once I finally (probably next year now with all my expenses the wife keeps coming up with) get my dedicated room setup people are welcome to come and view. :)

well at one stage in my life I lent cds to my freinds and they were returned or not in shocking/unplayable condition.

even my dad treats my dvds like they were coasters... humanity does piss you off at times.
