The beechwood finish really is nice, isnt it. :) How did you previously integrate your subs into this system?

I use several different pieces of gear, as the two small subs extend the mains I have a crossover and an EQ in circuit, the two HT subs have different requirements and so have some different gear plus EQ. It takes quite a while to setup and intergrate them all with the room and each other. I'm looking for an easier solution for when I do some relocating in the near future.

Mine are in American Oak, you can feel the grain which is why its popular with black cabinets.

Very nice, am sure they look (and feel) even nicer IRL.

Hi Spearmint, that is an excellent picture. Very classy.

Do you know if the SVS/Audyssey unit has provision for XLR inputs and outputs?

Thanks LD.

The SVS/Audyssey unit is only single ended at this stage, I guess if demand is high there maybe a balanced unit in the future as there is now with the stand alone Audyssey unit.

Thanks, I think they do, BTW I stole borrowed the colour scheme off SVS when they used to make the B4+ subwoofer in American Oak. ;)

I'm sure your Denon HT processor makes things far easier to integrate the HT subs.

The biggest issue with 2 channel music systems, is bass integration. I am yet to hear a sub 7k speaker system, that would not benefit from some reinforcement below 40Hz.

Alot of people ignore the fact that all speakers will try and reproduce material beyond their capabilities, if sent full range information. They may rollaway at 40 or 60 Hz, but send the speaker a 20Hz test tone, and just listen to your drivers flapping around trying to deal with it. Makes me cringe.

Bass management and sub integration really is a major PITA on 2 channel analog systems. A massive benefit of digital sources and current digital processing technologies, is that bass managment and sub integration becomes very easy to achieve. This is why I asked about 2ch preamps with such features, and will continue to look for devices coming to market that make good use of digital processing.

My issue with this device, is it is applying digital processing, to analog inputs. We probably wouldnt ever know the difference at the bottom end, by injecting an additional layer of A->D,D->A processing - but it's not ideal.

Ideally, all such processing should be done in the digital domain, before any analog conversions have taken place. Am kicking myself I didnt have a lash at that TACT 2.2 mini, that sold on ebay for 2.6k .

Off topic, but what are the plans for these main speakers, and their 12" sub partners - after the newbies arrive (when do you get your new babies?)

Regarding the new speakers I've no idea of a delivery date, I still haven't even heard a set in operation. :(

The current speakers I'll either try and sell or put into storage, i.e. the garage. :)

Re the subs, they'll either still be used for 2ch depending on how the new speakers perform in my room to my tastes or I'll use them for HT. When I can get some muscle at home I'm going to make some changes, and will more than likely move the two large subs to the back of the room.

The american oak mains, with the 12" sub partners - are the perfect candidates for someone to try their hand at a DEQX conversion.

Ideally they're best kept together as a set, from a functional and aesthetics POV. Someone would be able to achieve a perfectly integrated 2 channel speaker system, that peformed very flat, going very low - using the DEQX.

You may even like to try your hand at it yourself, if you had the time, space, $, and it was of interest to toy around with. I would, but I'm short on all of those things. ;)

So are you buying one to try?

First I want to see one demoed, then try to borrow one..

You know how much of a T A I am with these things,I really need to be sure.

As you know the twins need some taming even though they have been pulled back since your last visit.

But this little SVS thingy looks good so far..
