forumite1503560776 Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Having had HD for 3 weeks I got my first bill yesterday (Telsarr Cable) an I think it is wrong, Telstra were rude and didn't help, the Foxtel guy was very nice and also said there was confusion (In the call centre) and credited my account and said see what happens next month. Does anyone else think I am over charged by $25 (details below)? I used to have just an IQ1. When HD was installed the IQ went into a different room. I thought all I had to pay extra each month was the $14.95 for HD. My bill had the HD cost, plus $10 for the IQ1 box plus $14.95 for multi room, therefore meaning I have to pay an extra $40 each month, I would not have kept IQ1 if I knew it was going to be so much! On the HD FAQ it has this quote.... We have an offer to take Multiroom where the Multiroom install fee will be waived. So if a current FOXTEL iQ subscriber is upgrading to the FOXTEL iQ2, they can move their FOXTEL iQ to their Multiroom and only pay the one-off $200 upgrade for the FOXTEL iQ2.
Ainslie Summers Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 That quote on the site sounds like it is talking about the install, although it is very ambiguous. It sounds like you are being charged correctly though, the deal that they have is if you have an iq multiroom with an iq2 is that they waive the iq fee, but you still have to pay for the multiroom, making it the same price as having a standard stu for the multiroom. So the breakdown would be 105.95 if you are a platinum subscriber 10 for the iq2 14.95 for the hd package 14.95 for the multiroom. You would have only been paying 14.95 more if you didn't decide to have a multiroom

If I do have to pay the all the extras I am going to get them to take away the old box. http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtop...7501&st=800 Edited June 23, 2008 by forumite
Musketeer1503560487 Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 If you are a Platinum subscriber with an IQ2, you will pay $14.95 multi-room charge for the second outlet, but should not also be charged $10 for the IQ1 box. This was explained to me by the rep when I booked my install yesterday. Rest assured I will be looking at my first post-upgrade bill closely!

Musketeer1503560487 Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 So what was the good deal for us who were current customers? I really didn't think I had to pay for multi room? a $10 saving is not much TBH. No its not hugely exciting. But in some cases it works to offset people's increased monthly costs from the upgrade, which is why you read a lot of "I pay no more" or "I pay only $5 more" type posts on these forums, from existing IQ multi-room subscribers who upgrade.
addenwood Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 So what was the good deal for us who were current customers? I really didn't think I had to pay for multi room? a $10 saving is not much TBH. Looking at the pricing on the website that breakdown is correct, $130.90 for platinum, including the box and all HD channels and then the additional $14.95 for the second IQ multi room.
loony Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 It may seem correct but myself and others were definitely under the impression that for current IQ customers we could keep it for no extra charge This is the case As it says in the pricing PDF http://hd.foxtel.com.au/pdf/FOX9761_Pricing_Package_Ad.pdf Min cost: $125 (standard metro install) + $10 FOXTEL iQ service fee per month (Platinum &/or Multiroom Subscribers) or $14.95 FOXTEL iQ service fee per month (non Platinum/non Multiroom Subscribers) or $0 FOXTEL iQ service fee per month (subscribers to both Multiroom and FOXTEL iQ2)
On the In Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Hi. Sorry. There was a lot of wrongness and I thought I would clear some of it up. The important thing to understand is that WITHOUT the IQ2 as your primary, having an IQ1 as a multiroom machine costs you $24.95 per month ($14.95 for multiroom and $10 for IQ unit fee). WITH the IQ2, they changed it so that you could have an IQ1 as your multiroom for ONLY $14.95. This DOES make it attractive, especially in households that previously had three or four multiroom units. The saving really does make a difference. So lets break down the package you ended up with. $200 one-off upgrade fee. $105.95 per month for platinum. $14.95 per month for HD Complete (the suite of hd channels) $10 per month IQ2 box rental And $14.95 per month for your IQ1 multiroom unit. Technically you should have been charged a one-off $24.95 for installing the IQ1 as a multiroom...but we are often finding excuses to let that one slip at the moment, and so far they have not sent down heavy-handed directives not to do it. But hey, according to another thread I am a foxtel propogandist, so why trust me? Goodnight. S

S ok, but if you want another iq2 for multiroom instead of an iq1. would that still be $14.95. i have; 2 iq1 & 1 of the old boxes ($10 iq1 + $24.95 the other iq1 box & $14.95 for the old foxtel box) + $105.95 per month for platinum.
On the In Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 You would be paying $14.95 for the muti-room service and $10 for the IQ2 box. So it would be an additional $24.95 on top of your $130.90. On the bright side, instead of cracking down on the $24.95 multiroom install fee, they seem to have made it official. No multiroom install fee when getting it at the same time as the IQ2 upgrade! I feel like I am still at work.... S

We do appreciate it (although it might not seem that way sometimes) I had 2 x IQ1's on Platinum and 1 x standard box. I upgraded the standard box to IQ2 and Installed another IQ2 and kept the 2 x IQ1's. Can I take each IQ1 as a multiroom for each IQ2? If so, am I right in calculating my monthly fees as: $105.95 per month for platinum. $14.95 per month for HD Complete (the suite of hd channels) 2 x $10 per month IQ2 box rental And 2 x $14.95 per month for your IQ1 multiroom unit. For a total of $170.80 / month? I got conflicting amounts when I asked Foxtel over the phone. Cheers FD13

Cheers FD13 I am not sure I followed all of that , but there is no limit (other than sanity) on how many multirooms you can have with IQ1, each of which will be $14.95 per month. If you choose to have a standard stu as a multiroom, the price will be $14.95... (Think of the $14.95 as the flat rate multiroom fee if you have an OQ2 as the primary)...You can upgrade any of those multiroom units to an IQ2 and it will be $14.95 for the fact it is a multiroom, and $10 for the fact it is an IQ2 (And there will be that $200 fee as well) Now, If you have an IQ1 as your pirmary, The IQ will cost you $10 a month if you are on the platinum package, or $14.95 if you are on one of the lesser packages, multiroom is still $14.95, but having a multiroom that is an IQ1 will also entail the extra $10 per month fee. Finally, If you have a standard STU as the primary and get a multiroom, they will cost you $19.95 per month for standar STU's. Given some households have six or so boxes total, you can see how the IQ2 can actually be really good value. Having said all that, Today I got to hook up a house in Toorak with 8 IQ2 units.... It took close to an hour with the somewhat ill-prepared software system for ordering it. S

wullie Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 If you went for an upgrade to IQ2 and got a multiroom installation at the same time to cater for your IQ1 then check your Bill. They charged me $24.95 installation fee. Couldn't convince the Foxtel Rep that it should have been free. But I wasn't backing down and he eventually waived the fee even though he still thinks I should have been charged it...
Hannibal Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 I don't know if it will help to make it clearer or not, but have a read of the Foxtel Residential Pricing Guide Of particular interest for wullie is Note 14. "No multiroom connection fee charged if upgrading STU’s at the same time."

"No multiroom connection fee charged if upgrading STU’s at the same time." I did my research before phoning Foxtel. I quoted "No multiroom connection fee charged if upgrading STU’s at the same time." He was insistant that it wasn't an upgrade because I kept the IQ1!!! He said that if I'd got rid of the IQ1 then that would have been an upgrade.. I said what would be the point of going for a multiroom with only 1 STU.. I was arguing my case for over 30 mins and he still wouldn't agree it was an upgrade. Makes you wonder how well briefed these reps are.. B
cnrmlj Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 (edited) it is interesting that the residential pricing guide has a self install of the iQ2 price. Edited July 14, 2008 by cnrmlj
silvaside Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 I already have foxtel digital (non iq) in one room. If I was to get a new outlet installed in another room + fox hd i'd be paying an extra $45 ($10 iq2, $15 hd, $20 non iq multiroom) per month after installation right?
big dog Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Has anyone heard about people with foxtel getting a second box and then giving the box to a friend. The monthly cost is only an extra $15 for the second box but you get to split the total cost with your friend.
