momaw Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Did you get a shock on how much you spent? Like me you were there in the hd dvd day so I can imagine how much you spent. Yes indeed I can't really blame DVD Pacific, I'm sure they were told by their mail provider that they would get good service, they didn't, they've had complaints and now they've changed and it seems better again. And this is how I felt after the first 3 orders and they promised they had changed providers and service would be quicker. They has since broken that promise with this last order. On top of that, the tone and content of the emails they have sent are reason enough to not do business with them again. An argument can be made that some of the problem (initial poor shipping period) was beyond their control, but the issue I have is the way they chose to deal with it. I even acknowledged in one of my early emails to them that once the good leave their hands it is out of their control. Their response was yes it is and we also wipe our hands of it, if you don't get the goods, that's your problem.

James Belsey Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Yes indeed And this is how I felt after the first 3 orders and they promised they had changed providers and service would be quicker. Fair enough, they tried to fob me off with a poor apology for the second package, but I went back and asked for more.
simonhowson Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 My average shipping time from DVDPacific so far this year is around 20 days from shipment confirmation to my house in metro-Adelaide. Last year my average was about 10. However, yesterday I received an order of 7 CDs that shipped on the 4th of this month. So that's just 8 days. It seems to me that orders sent in boxes arrive much faster than orders sent in padded bags. I thought it may be possible that the financial crisis means there are less shipments of cargo from U.S. to Australia, thus everything is taking longer than usual?
Spero D. Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 (edited) Just received another title with Priorty Airmail- 31 Days. Got a response to my email- Hi there,I am sorry about the delayed parcel. Please know that due to lack of service we have changed to a new forwarder. All parcels going out from February 21 onward have been shipped with our new mail forwarder. Therefore all shipping times will be much faster and as you have once been used to if not better. Yeah right. Title sent post February 21st using Priority Airmail- 15 days. Use to be 7-10 Days. Tsargrad Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 I added up my invoices and pointed out how much I had spent in the last year with them when I was asking them why I should continue to buy from them and they didn't give a flying..... I had that with play-asia. Spend $5K they **** you on an item and they dont care. ---- I havent ordered from pacific for a while (been ordering there for about 8 yrs) , and they were getting a bit slower when I last ordered. Sux they have gone off the boil, as amazon generally is still a bit pricey in comparison. But if they turn up its better than saving a few $$$
wadeshaqfu Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Been a while since i posted here but thought i might chime in with a response i received from DVD Pacific last week: "All packages retrieved from the old International mail forward company left the US on March 4/5 and shipped via a new express service that is offered by the new Company. We first commenced service with the new company on the 19th of February once we started to get a picture of what was happening and whilst it is not a courier service the transit times have been impressive and is an upgrade to what was previously offered even in good times. Therefore you should expect delivery by Monday at the latest and if not I will absolutely send your order FedEx Again, I do apologize for this situation and your loyalty is certainly appreciated." Now i don't know how many people here are getting a response like mine but I have been a customer of DVD Pacific since 1998 when they were actually still based in Queensland and then decided to move their base of operations to the US but i think i'll give them the benefit of the doubt and see if they can right their ship. Cheers Sean
momaw Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Compare that to the tone of the mail they sent me: "Due to the continuing bad service we have been experiencing from our mail forwarder, we have established business a new company that has promised and shown all mail delivery times will be within the estimated times we provide if not better. WE have already received feedback from customers that have received their parcels shipped under the new company. All orders from 2/24/2009 on have and will be shipped using this service therefore you will receive your parcel in the time frame you have known to expect from DVD Pacific." aside from the tone, considering way back in January they said "Unfortunately there were issues with the forwarding company for the weeks either side of Christmas, however reports are being received daily that delivery has been made and that the issues are delay and not actually lost. Given the situation with the forwarding company we have made changes to the process to ensure this cannot be repeated and deliveries shipped over the past 3 weeks are reporting delivery times to be what is expected." So where they lying in January and have only now changed providers? And why treat customers with such disdain who are just looking for a parcel 3 weeks past the delivery time promised?
James Belsey Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Had another shipment arrive today in 10 business days, with standard international shipping, which is pretty good. Still waiting for my shipment from 2nd Feb though!
wadeshaqfu Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 As promised, my order originally sent via International Airmail was resent on monday and arrived today via FedEx and they threw in a free Quantum Of Solace blu-ray for me for the delay. I'm pretty impressed with that. Sean
Spero D. Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 (edited) I'll be shopping exclusively from amazon in future. I would of done that, however I guess I'll have to take the slower shipping with both DVDPacific and DVDPlanet that I use because there is a larger price difference between them and Amazon *at times*. Especially considering the Aussie $ I want to save as much as I can. Example my May Blu-Ray preorders- Amazon.com w/Standard Shipping- $509.67US Using both DVDPacific & DVDPlanet- $451.20US (And thats not including an extra $15US I also get back via Cashbaq into my Paypal account) So for a $54US-$70US Saving over Amazon slow shipping it is for me. At least DVDPlanet also split ships at no extra cost like Amazon.com now, though I hope DVDPacific improves their shipping. I had my Akira Blu-Ray ship 2 days ago from DVDPacific thats been on Preorder for months and out of stock since release from them so we'll see. Edited March 21, 2009 by Spero D.

In my case I'm only having 2-3 discs shipped at a time, so $5 diff is worth the certainty of Amazon. But the last order I did was cheaper with amazon so I guess it depends what you order. Another interesting thing is with amazon you get the cheapest price pre-order guarantee. I had another item shipped from DVDpac and when I checked the bill I was unhappily surprised. Went back to the order and on release they jacked the price up. Jut not worth them problems and headache and waiting waiting waiting with no help from dvdpac. But thats my experience only.
Kirben Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 (edited) I'm still waiting on two orders (sent on 30th January and 4th February) from DVD Pacific too, although several other orders from DVD Pacific have been sent and arrived in the meantime. I just reported those orders missing on Friday, and I just hope I get a helpful response, after reading this thread. Who else is still waiting for orders from around that time? and what has DVD Pacific's response been like? parcels resent or tough luck? Edited April 7, 2009 by Kirben

Oh don't get me started............................. My order from Jan 30th didn't turn up, I waited the 25 business days to contact them, ok we'll send you a replacement..............................only problem they were out of stock. Replacement was supposedly sent March 19th still not here. They had a very long email from me today demanding a refund or I would be taking action through my bank.

Volunteer Kazz Posted April 7, 2009 Volunteer Posted April 7, 2009 How crap is that??No wonder you are not happy.... Yeah not happy is an understatement. The latest order I placed is with Amazon, I'll not have the same problems with them.
Chesty Posted April 8, 2009 Author Posted April 8, 2009 Yeah not happy is an understatement. The latest order I placed is with Amazon, I'll not have the same problems with them. I only import from Amazon Uk these days...
Volunteer Kazz Posted April 8, 2009 Volunteer Posted April 8, 2009 I only import from Amazon Uk these days... Yes as will I in future. No response from DVD Pac to yesterdays email as yet, nor to the one I sent to day to inform them that the replacement order had actually finally arrived.

Chesty Posted October 19, 2009 Author Posted October 19, 2009 Well after getting my last order in 2 weeks via standard shipping, my current order is up to 2.5 weeks and counting...
THX1979 Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 IN DEFENcE OF DVD pacific Ive used em for 5 years and never had a disc go missing (unlike amazon who dont seal their boxes securelY) if you use registered express post the discs get here in 5 days - some discs are cheaper on amazon but the postage costs are often higher
Chesty Posted October 20, 2009 Author Posted October 20, 2009 if you use registered express post the discs get here in 5 days - some discs are cheaper on amazon but the postage costs are often higher Do you mean courier?
THX1979 Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 (edited) yep- i USEd FedEx Air Courier for 5 years ,which is the cheapest option, theyve never missed a beat and it requires signature by purchaser. the other options are at the mercy of the various thieves in the chain between Florida and australia, I can understand why DVD pacific throw their hands up in despair Edited October 20, 2009 by williamtassone
