suparockin Posted July 15, 2008 Author Posted July 15, 2008 Thanks ... where did you get them from at that price ? Regards Hifi Trader, Newtown.
yamapro Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Hi, quick question ... I am looking to have in ceiling speakers put in (1 room for 3 rears and 3 rooms for background music and 2 outdoor under eaves) ... Which model Niles/Swan/other do you recomend ? Are they all fine for outdoor and bathroom use ? How much is typical installation assuming easy access (50/hour for a few hours ?), thanks and regards Andrew As far as installation goes it is no doubt a variable figure. If you can get someone on an hourly rate i would expect to be paying no less than $80 an hour (locally here in Adelaide anyway)

T-minus 1 week till installation!
suparockin Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 Bumped for our mate who was looking for inceiling speakers..
fencer1 Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 The Niles I got are perfect for the rears in a 5.1 set up, better to spend $700 on 2 speakers than $800 on 4 IMHO.Niles have some pretty crazy outdoor speakers... www.nilesaudio.com How crazy are these for outdoor speakers - http://www.nilesaudio.com/product.php?prod...prdcdID=FG01463 Well done on getting a good speaker brand I've recently got Niles HR6 http://www.nilesaudio.com/product.php?prod...prdcdID=FG00883 for my rears and they sound terrific with my Paradigm fronts. I packed the speaker holes with a white insulation batt for the finished installation and it really made the sound much more richer. Watching even 20/20 cricket in HD5.1 last night made those rear sound awesome. I'm even looking forward to Lost on tv tonight for the 5.1
bbar Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I have the Mordaunt Short Architecture A261 series and am happy with them! Bryan
dklarnet Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I am building a new house, and looking at an in-ceiling 5.1 set up in the living/family room. not dedicated HT room, but where any HT watching would happen. the guy i am getting to install all the cables/speakers etc has recommented either: Speaker craft AIM7 two Speaker craft AIM7 three Jamo 6.521A2 just wondering what peoples thoughts on these were, and what an RRP these would be? thanks, dk

I have heard an all in ceiling 5.1 (cept for the sub of course) setup and would advise against going in ceiling fronts if you possibly can. Sounds very off putting when watching a movie and all the dialogue and effects coming from the ceiling above the screen/tv. If space is a concern I would suggest on walls for the front left right and centre with in ceilings for the rears.
suparockin Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 Niles have some very good in-wall soeakers as well?
roggerlewin Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 i hear Speakercraft are quite good, and the whole unit (main driver and tweeter) can be angled to your listening position. thought you guys might like to know I bought in ceiling speakers today from Audio solutions.Ended up getting two Speakercraft crs8 for $349.
DT_Sanchez Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 I am looking at buying some in-ceiling speakers. I have Paradigm Phantom V7 as the front floorstanders (one day to be upgraded to Studio 60 or 100's), Paradigm Centre and Velodyne Sub. The room that the HT is going to be installed is under renovation but there will be no place for rear speakers either on the wall or floor. So in-ceiling speakers are possibly the only solution (and the wife loves it!) I have not heard Speakercraft AIM 8's and Paradigm SA15R-30 (Which is so very hard here in Brisbane) but I have been 'advised' that these in-ceilings would surpass my needs for the time being but be 'ready' once the fronts are upgraded. I love the Speakercraft speakers and I can see that shipping them from the US will save $$$. As for the Paradigms, they will match my fronts and centre. Q. Is there much to be said for matching all the speakers from the same manufacturer? I will be getting the Marantz SR-6008 to drive these. Any advice will be great. Thanks.
d4g Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I just got a pair of krix atmospherix a20 these sound fantastic and they are already 20 deggrees tilted they match the epicentrix and neuphonix as they have the same tweeter

I have not listened to the Paradigm in ceiling speakers and can't comment however I can highly recommend the Speakercraft in ceiling and in wall type speakers. Audition the middle to high end versions and you will not be dissapointed for clarity, tone and bass. Our family room system has AIM7 Fives (ceiling) for L/C/R channels and AIM 7 MT (surrounds) and the imaging is great and noting the woofer and tweeter can both be pivoted to suit your room. Purchased mine from Len Wallis late 2011 who at the time was the Aust distributor for Speakercraft. Back then could not import Speakercaft from a US retailer due to the distributor arrangements I guess but not sure how it stands these days.
cwt Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) If it's custom paint job and built to order you want - and a proper baffled design not open to the rafters for bass loading like cheaper in ceilings ; the triad range from wavetrain acoustics is worth a look ; from low [bronze ] to higher [gold] prices http://www.triadspea...ts/icg8ose.html Impedance Nominal impedance 8 ohms. 6.2 ohms minimum. Sensitivity 88 dB (2.83v, 1m) 2pi Frequency Response 70 Hz - 20 kHz (+/-3 dB) Nice high impedance -easy to drive and good flat frequency extension for a speaker that's just 14x14" http://www.triadspea...ageceiling.html Edited November 14, 2013 by cwt
