DeepUnder Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 (edited) Hello, i live in a unit and have a LX508A plasma. When it's raining or when the weather is not all that great i am unable to watch Digital TV. The channels that are most affect is Channel 7 and 9 as well as 7HD and 9HD, 10 is fine. What i am looking for is there a way to fix the reception problem and/or what is the best Internal Digital Antenna? Thanks PS. I live in Five Dock Sydney Edited June 16, 2008 by DeepUnder
charlesc Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 (edited) This post should go into the Sydney Geographical Viewers Forum, as it is related to an area. To get good reception you need to have a good quality digital signal. This would mean one with a low Bit Error Ratio (BER). In general, a well chosen, correctly mounted and positioned outdoor external antenna is much more likely to give you this than an indoor antenna. Does your unit have a common antenna outlet shared by the other units? One that may come off an antenna on the roof? Has this been tried? It may be however that the common antenna system only provides for the analogue channlels and not digital. EDIT: Typo Edited June 16, 2008 by charlesc
DeepUnder Posted June 16, 2008 Author Posted June 16, 2008 yes we share a common antenna but when the weather is sunny i am able to pick up all stations fine this includes HD stations. Should i get the antenna on the roof looked at? and is it worth my while to get an internal antenna thanks
charlesc Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 In most cases the preference would be to have the roof mounted antenna working correctly. However where a Body Corporate is involved, work to fix this, or convert to digital reception, can become complicated. Are others in the unit block having problems as well? Do most people want the common system fixed? Bear in mind that at the end of next year, there will be no analogue channels in Sydney, it will all be digital TV reception. At some point the common system will have to be converted.
