Cylon Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 (edited) My PS3 was set to HDMI on my old Sony Bravia and worked fine, I brought a new Bravia LCD (KDL32S3100) today. I went to play the PS3, switch to HDMI 1 (there is 2 HDMI ports) but the screen just showed black. I reset the PS3 video settings by holding the power button for 5 seconds so it went back to the default composite set up, then I switched over to video 3 and to my surprised it also showed black there. I double checked to make sure I had those cables in and the tv set to the right channel. What should I do? Is my TV faulty? The PS3 worked fine plugged into another TV so im sure its not at fault here. Edited June 15, 2008 by Cylon
Cylon Posted June 15, 2008 Author Posted June 15, 2008 Update: I got it working on composite , but the moment i set it back to HDMI the TV doesnt detect it at all.
retro_vision Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 Update: I got it working on composite , but the moment i set it back to HDMI the TV doesnt detect it at all. call sony tech support straight away... better to get onto them sooner than later. or take it back to the retailer and swap it over if you bought it within 14 days.... any longer than 14 days and they cant claim it as DOA and will have to be sent for repair work instead of just swapping it over. make sure you give them a call and organise a time with your salesman there, before you just waltz in holding a faulty TV... and get stuck with some new idiot who doesnt know a thing happens too often in the industry.
Cylon Posted June 15, 2008 Author Posted June 15, 2008 (edited) My Mum was gonna take it back to the store (she called and everything) but then I tried it on HDMI 2 and got it working there. So Im thinking the HDMI 1 port is screwed, but since I only need 1 of them anyway I don't think its worth the trouble of getting a replacement. It was the only left in store in the first place and I don't wanna be without a TV. Edited June 15, 2008 by Cylon
diesel Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 Everything new these days is offering HDMI connections, and sooner or later you're gonna want to hook up another device. Get it fixed/swapped IMO.
brazam Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 im thinking same as mick. I got a new onkyo receiver only to find that my old pioneer plasma isnt hdmi 1.3 so i had the same thing going on with my ps3. Now i have several hdmi components and am in the market for a new tv to fit everything into, so get it done while you can to save frustration later mate.
