Just noticed this and got my hopes up for a second thought maybe you'd had a change of heart - I live in hope...

All the best

This is not the Region Free Holy Grail Firmware.

This will downgrade an EP30 or A30 player to 1.3. To be used if you are having playback problems with a higher firmware...................eg: 2.0

I'm not too technical so please be gentle. I've downloaded the file which has a .iso extension. When I try to burn it, the program says it's not a valid iso image. The program I'm using is CDBurnerXP. Do I need to do something with the image file before burning? Or is CDBurnerXP at fault?

Have a read here on how to burn a firmware disc.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I read that thread and tried some other burners like ImgBurn, Iso_Burner, IsoRecorder. These seem to burn the disk but if you then try to see what's on it, Windows says its an unrecognised format. I'm burning to CD-R80 disks (have used 10 already). I'll do some more Googling methinks.

Windows says its an unrecognised format.

That's perfectly normal.

As the flash says thats normal,if you have burnt the disc properly your computer wont recognise any files on it,just put it in the machine and it will upgrade.

i sense a secretive conspiracy going on... do some people possibly have the multi-region patch that only works from version 1.3 or am I barking up the wrong tree (you know who I'm talking about!)

Sorry wrong tree mate

this will help for those who have issues with 2.0 until hopefullt 2.1 comes from Toshiba

I have an EP35 and on 2.0 i have bad jaggies on my picture, but now back on 1.3 and its fine

Thanks, hddvduser. I don't need it at the moment, as I don't have a 1080p display, but I'm bound to get one at some point; I'll keep the file around just in case.

I never upgraded mine for precisely this reason. Not that I have a 1080p display anyhow, but I live in hope.................

Sounds like a similar issue the XE1 2.8fw(IIRC) caused when playing AVC in 24hz mode........(I think I got the settings right, there was a thread on this a while ago)

......Does this mean there may be a fix coming for the XE1 also?............or is this staying on the ignore list?

cheers

At the time i upgraded i had Transformers hddvd and that showed it up straight away.I think you may be right MACCA350 about the AVC codec issue.

All sorted now though

How....by downgrading firmware? Not what I'd call sorted......more like ignored by Toshiba and hddvduser has helped out by way of a workaround...

Unfortunately Toshiba won't bother fixing the issue now..........sucks that their flagship HD player has this issue

cheers
