SirLegend Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 (edited) Was interesting to see this pop up in the local retravision catalog today. Twin HD tuners, 250Gb HDD & a DVD recorder - 7 day program guide etc etc... seems to me to be exactly what a lot of the ppl on this forum have been looking for for ages - including ppl like me who have ended up with the DMR-ex75 (or similar) for lack of anything better. Will be keen to road test this once it actually pops up in the shops - probably a bit expensive at $1200, but shouldnt take long to come down to a more reasonable price. I still recall i number of members on here who said something like this would not be viable due to a DVD being unable to record a large amount of HD TV - which is no doubt true, but as i copy very little from HDD to DVD it's not an issue for me. The Blu ray version looks even better, but at $2K its well out of my budget - i'll just keep having to use the laptop for now for blu ray Has anybody seen one of these things yet, and can comment on how they perform? Top of wish list - better handling of the widescreen flag! Edited June 8, 2008 by SirLegend
C_Clancy Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 (edited) Would $1582 for the Blu-Ray recorder version (Panasonic DMR-BW500) be out of your budget? See Digital Centre. The deal is for no deposit, 4 years to pay on a monthly payment plan (no penalty for early payout). (Not sure what the delivery cost would be.) It sounds too good to be true. Hopefully it's legit.
