(sorry I posted this by mistake in the SD forum)

Hi

About 1 week ago I purchased a Bush HD Set Top Box for my daughter. She had a Hotchip box but it developed a problem( no power) and I read a few topics here and concluded that the power supply in the Hotchip had died hence the purchase of the Bush box.

Anyway she connected it up and had problems with reception. Today I had a look at it and tried the leads(AV and Composite) in different slots in the back of her TV(it has 4 AV slots). I noticed that the AV leads got the Bush STB menu up, but the composite leads got nothing, so I concluded it was'nt a HD Box but a SD Box.

Just wondering if my conclusion is correct.

thanks

You may need to give the model number as I believe Bush make both SD and HD boxes. Could you also define "problems with reception"? Alternatively you could check the various Bush models on the DSE site.

Edit: Generally speaking a Bush sd stb would have cost you less than $100- and a Bush hd stb would have cost you more than $100-. HTH

I'm not sure of the model no.

What happened is that the menu came up when we connected just the AV leads to the TV but the menu won't come up with the composite leads connected. We can connect the composite leads for example in the TV in the AV/Comp 4 position and the AV leads in AV 3 position and the menu comes up. But connecting all leads in their right postion in the TV and there is no menu.

If I connect just the AV video in any slot in the TV the STB menu comes up. But if I then plug the composite leads in the menu disappears????

I concluded that the standard definition was therfore working but the high definition was'nt.

Make sense?
