Bobbsy Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 When I first joined this forum there was a thread running from somebody complaining that Austar couldn't install on a windy, rainy day. Don't worry--this isn't exactly a repeat of that complaint since I recall that thread got a bit heated! However.... We moved house last Monday. Because we had a fair bit of notice, we actually arranged for Austar to come and move our two Mystar boxes on the afternoon of the move. Alas, moving day was windy and rainy so they were unable to come. That's understandable. I wouldn't want to be up on my roof in that kind of weather. Annoying, but fully understandable. Similarly, the next appointment we could get for an installer to come was next Tuesday, more than a week later. Again, annoying but understandable. They couldn't cancel somebody else to do us. The thing is, the long range forecast for Tuesday is yet more rain (actually a good thing since the dams around here are at about 10%) so we rang to find out what would happen if another appointment was cancelled--it appears another week+ delay would be on the cards. However, during that call we got a shock. It turns out that, however long the delays, Austar were proposing to keep charging us for the service we're not getting. It took demanding to speak to a supervisor then a manager to persuade them to grudgingly agree to credit us for whatever time we end up not receiving Austar. I'd personally think this would be the FIRST thing they should do, with some sort of compensation added on for the inconvenience. As it is, this leaves a pretty bad taste in the mouth in terms of customer service. Oh, and the final frustration: this house already has a dish and presumably a 10700 LNB since the previous residents received Austar up to the day of the move. However, despite our request being a MOVE not a cancellation, our service was cut off just after midnight on the day of the move. Even if I couldn't use the Mystar boxes, at least I could have put the card in my old receiver which I still have if they'd just left us turned on! Bob
