sorry if this has been covered (I did do a search but didn't find anything)

what's the best thing out at the moment to show off my blu ray player to people who are sceptics about my ps3 and big screen LCD purchase?

I have all 3 pirates of the Caribbean, and they were pretty good - wondering if there is something better out there?

not really looking at those sample disc things - would prefer a movie or a doco

was hoping for something more recent / updated than those topics - but thanks for the suggestions

those threads are still pretty valid, not much been released since then to surpass the suggestions in those threads.

Rambo will be up there for sure. HDD gave it 5 stars for AQ with a full-blown DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 7.1 Surround track and 4.5 for PQ. If I can ever get rid of the kids for a couple of hours I will get to watch it.

This has become my reference disk.

http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/ratatouille.html

On the animated front, yep, you can't go past Ratatouille and Cars for reference treats.

Other titles i view as reference are Apocalypto, POTC and I, Robot (as Yorac suggested; though i can't personally vouch for it as have only heard praise all around) for stellar performance across the HD board.

others like Die Hard 4 and Master and Commander tend to be 'biased' towards the audio aspect of things, as a referene disc.

How about a music BD disk to demo the hi-def sound and PQ.

I have to say that Shakira's Oral Fixation was absolutely amazing, but somone else cruelly suggested it was for 16 yro girls.

Hi Folks

Sorry to be a spoilsport but I think the Documentary "Antartic Dreaming" by HDscape has by far the best picture quality I have seen in a Blu-ray Disc to date.

probably the reason for this is that they used special HD cameras to make the doco,

and the long distance shots in the super dry antartic atmosphere makes for excellent picture quality.

Surprisingly the film is recorded in 1080i but still has a picture quality that is truly amazing,

and will always impress everyone who sees it, from children to very elderly people.

Thats my .05 cents worth

Regards

Bernie

he he, I thought it had potential but I found the way it ended (without giving anything away) meaningless.
