Skid_MacMarx Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 I've heard there has been a movie (released by the Wachowski brothers) although I don't know how good it is. My boys used to love this when they were younger (I think it was screened on ABC Kids/Fly) Speed Racer (1967) - The Complete Series Collection (8 Disc Box Set)

Unfortunately for the Wachowski Brothers I think they peaked with Matrix 1. Even then I don't think that was their own idea.

Dork(original) Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 As a kid I loved Speed racer,Marine Boy,Space Ace and Astro Boy.Speed Racer as a film,I'll give it a pass. Some things are better left alone. Paul.
fishboy2807 Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Some things are better left alone. I agree... I mean look what some fool did to the Thunderbirds.
Widescream1503559516 Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Yeah - that Thunderbirds movie was absolutely dire. Hopefuly the likes of Captain Scarlet, UFO and Space:1999 (as flawed as the latter was) will all be left alone.

As a kid, I liked to watch Speed Racer, Bugs Bunny, Road Runner, Duffy Duck, Tom & Jerry, ... , you name it, still do, however, I can't watch them as I have no Foxtel* *Thanks to the real estate agent saying that we're not allowed to have it as well as me not being able to afford to move into another place that will give me access to foxtel, need a job first.
Inego1503560167 Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 I'd half forgotten Speed Racer existed - until I started watching it with my son on ABC2 a couple fo years a go. Not sure when or if they're playing it again..... Kent PS. The new CGI Captain Scarlet (which Gerry Anderson was involved with ) was pretty average compared with the SuperMarionation version - again, watch for it on ABC2 - I don't think it's been shown elsewhere.

Having never seen the original Captain Scarlet I actually thought the CGI version was rather good. In any case it was great that ABC2 showed it and other gems such as Speed Racer.
Wonder Woman Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Yes ABC2 did show Speed Racer also the newer cartoon version but it's not as good as the original. I've read reviews that the movie is too long and very bright on the eyes!
