Alwyn Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 (edited) Hi all, I'm trying to use the Audio Out "Variable" setting (page 29 of the manual) to control the volume output from my stone-age, no-remote-control amp. When I set the Audio Out from the TV to Variable, the audio output signal level drops significantly to the point where I have to have the TV volume on virtually maximum volume to get a usable level from the Audio Out sockets (or wind the amp volume up very high). In "Variable", it seems that the TV volume must be on full to reach the signal level when the TV is set to "Fixed". But when I set the Audio Out back to "Fixed", the output level jumps up and booms through to the amp. I've tried connecting the TV audio out to the PHONO and MIC inputs on the amp but have too much signal. I've tried putting in a 100ohm resistor plug for the PHONO but it's still too distorted. Does anybody have a fix or suggestions for gizmos for either getting my Variable signal level up for my amp's line In, or attenuating the signal for the PHONO in? If I can't mod the TV of change another setting on it, I need either: - an attenuator that will drop the signal to that for the PHONO jack or -a booster that will increase the signal for the Line In jack. Suggestions appreciated. Thanks! Alwyn Edited June 6, 2008 by Alwyn
