Craig1 Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Hi all, My Digicrystal 9070p has given up the ghost, so I just wanted to ask if anyone has some quick instructions on how I can get the existing recordings off the hard drive and on to a Windows PC? Thanks, Craig
Cobrin Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 I have a 9077p so I cant tell you if this will be 100% working for you but this method works for me. Software you need to have. 1. Sigmatek -its a tiny udf mounting app to mount the HDD so the PC can access the data. 2. ProjectX_0.82.0.05b -A Fabulous app to split and encode a recordings raw data to another format. 3. Encoding program (personal choice) I use Pocket dvix Encoder, other ppl use Super or Lathe Optional....An avi joiner and splitter prog. As I like to cut out the show and join them back together without advertising. Install Sigma and turn off the PC. Connect the HDD out of the pvr to the PC Startup the PC, when windows recognises the HDD cancel any attempt for XP to give it a drive letter, if it wants to. Run Sigma and choose the HDD of the pvr from drop box by its size in Gb, then choose a Drive letter to mount it as. If done correctly, now go into My Computer and look for the Drive letter and HDD. 1. Double click the HDD and you will see a folder called Recordings.Double click the folder and you'll be greated with all the recordings on the HDD. 2. Of all the files for the individual recordings the one you want is the file with the extention '.data' eg. xxx.data (x given for file name). 3. Copy this file to another HDD in your PC (remember its raw data so its big). 4. Startup ProjectX.jar to do this you need Java runtime Environment installed I use this 'jre-6u3-windows-i586-p-s' any will do.accept T&C 5. Go to file and Add. Find the recording you have copied to the PC HDD and select that. 6. Now go to Edit.choose Open VideoCut/Specials. Drag the slider to the start frame of the show and select 'add point'. Drag the slider to the end of the show and again select 'add point. 7. Now hit 'apply and close' 8. On the middle left hand side you'll see a dropdown box, choose 'to PVA'. 9. On the top right hand side cilck on the '+' buton and give it a output directory and press the 'Go' button. 10. when all is done you can close the programs and go to where you saved it in the output directory and change the file extension from xxx.pva to xxx.mpg 11. Fire up the AVI Encoding program and convert the mpg to a avi file. This reduces the size from a 1hr 1.2gb recording to a 350mb recording (cause its still a raw recording untill you re-encode it.) Optional....From there I use a avi splitter and cut out the show in roughly 4 parts then join them together so no ad's are included. I delete all remaining files other than the finished recording when done and move onto the next recording. I actually ProjectX out all the PVR recordings onto another hdd, then Batch encode the whole lot using PDE over night (as I usuall have a full PVR HDD) and then chop em up without ad's If you would like I can make up a propper tute for you. just PM me
