I'm slowly working my way through the list of carnage and damage that Grace removals did while transporting my stuff from Sydney to Perth. I've just finished setting up my HT gear and was setting the speakers and thought "my god that speaker sounds terrible". Took off the cover and the tweeter has been smashed in! I've added it to the list of things like a desk snapped, lamps ripped apart, 80% of glasses smashed etc and I'm only 1/3 of the way through my boxes.

Anyway, my question is if anyone has had any experience in getting these repaired? Its the B&W 603 S2 floorstanding speaker. Do they even have parts for these now? Are they expensive to repair? Any recommended repairers in Perth?

Thanks for any advice.

I would recommend contacting one of the West Coast Hi Fi dealers here in Perth. They should be able to provide you with information on where to take your speakers for repairs.

Did you have insurance in place with the transport company?

Cheers

Go see your B&W dealer. These are quickly repairable. (I had a 601S2 tweeter replaced a couple of years ago). Insurance should cover but shouldn't be more than say $200

If it's the same units as the tweeter on the CC6 (same vintage) it should cost you about $50 for the tweeter diaphragm. It's a pretty simple install job too. I just did so recently (My son pushed the dome in and I tried to um repair it with a vacuum cleaner).

Good luck, hope they can fix it.

Thanks for the replies.

I spoke to West Coast and they reckon the new part want be more than $90 and easy to install. They also mentioned 20% off all B&W from Friday:) Will be heading to have a look and get my speaker repaired.
