bertieb Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 (edited) Did a quick search here, but couldn't find any mention at all regarding the Foxtel IQ2 ad. Does anybody else here think this is an absolutely brilliant ad ?? The way they cycle through the TV ages, including quickly flashing through all the fashion and interior decorating styles, I think is fantastic. To use Aussie actors, and especially an Aussie musician (its Whitley's "Lost in Time" song btw - I've already ordered the album straight from his site !!) I think just makes a great ad absolutely brilliant. Its not often that an ad comes along that is so enjoyable, and at the same time so cleverly specific to the product. Its on Youtube if you want to relive it. Does anyone happen to know which company produced the ad ? I think they deserve much praise. bertieb YouTube video of IQ2 ad Edited June 4, 2008 by bertieb

loony Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 I think foxtel make fantastic commercials, not just the HD ad however individual channel commercials (eg the new comedy one) and even for shows (kville is the first which comes to mind)
laurie Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I think foxtel make fantastic commercials, not just the HD ad however individual channel commercials (eg the new comedy one) and even for shows (kville is the first which comes to mind) Pity they don't make fantastic packages cheers laurie
pcqypcqy Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I quite liked it. I guess it's a bit sad for it to be wasted on something like Foxtel HD, but still. It reminded me of the Holden Ute ads that have been playing with Jet lately - maybe the same agency? Anyways, liked 'em both.
the_wonderchild Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 i must say it isn't too bad actually; rather appealing and compelling for a commercial
hobotivo Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Yes, I think it's a fabulous ad too! As good as the "Herding Cats" ad for EDS. I said to my wife that if ever we're in the position of needing a TV ad (although I can't imagine why we would) we'd have to find out what agency did it. Having had much of the gear (or very similar) it was a real "memory lane" thing for us! Even had a corded remote! Cheers Ron
ShadySoldier Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 pretty good. But the other ad that said "improve your iq", I dont really get why they would advertise a better IQ instead of high definition on demand movies and the channels etc.
dc_macca Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 odd one out here i hate it... can't stand the whistling... so token
jayweb Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Having had much of the gear (or very similar) it was a real "memory lane" thing for us! Even had a corded remote! Ah, memory lane.....I remember the corded remote. I also remember our first VCR with 68cm TV, my aunyt said "its like being at the movies" how time have changed. High fidelity stereo, two channels baby, yeah!!!!
DansDans Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I was too scared to admitting I liked it due to all the Foxtel bashers here, but seems like its safe to admit that I think the ad is bloody brilliant
