mal68 Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Hey guys just wondering if anyone has one or at least used one and can tell me what they think??? Seems pretty good to me in that it does most of what the 1000i can do but is a bit cheaper and more easily used with one hand. I am looking at getting one for $150 new which looks like a good deal. Any feedback appreciated
Black Dawg Down Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 No experience but where can you get one for that price?
mal68 Posted June 4, 2008 Author Posted June 4, 2008 Thanks for the link, didn't come up when I did a search but am guessing I put logitech in the search too. It was through a private sale. Decided to go through with it as it seems to be an excellent deal for that price, just can't wait to get it now. Thanks for the help.
betty boop Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 DSE has 20% off these at the moment - $160 They're a great remote, use it for bedroom system
Riv39 Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 (edited) They're a great remote, use it for bedroom system Mine looses the plot on occassion (starts stuff it shoudn't) but generally pretty damn good. I use it for my HT and it has eliminated all of my remotes for general viewing purposes. Edited November 26, 2010 by Riv39
Gurtofen Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 I have one and it is absolutely brilliant. Takes a bit of effort to setup correctly but worth it in the end. They are so good, I just bought another one last night for $144.95. You wont be disappointed. Cheers, Gurtofen.
crazymorton1503561772 Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 got one a couple of months ago to replace the 880. brilliant piece of kit...highly recommend
Guest Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 I've had a 785 for a while now,, Bloody thing does everything Hi Fi, Tellies, Air Con, Garage doors, If I had keyless entry on the Cars it would probably do that as well. As for price check the e-bay page http://shop.ebay.com.au/i.html?_nkw=logite...11233/i.html%3F
AndrewW Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 As for price check the e-bay page http://shop.ebay.com.au/i.html?_nkw=logite...11233/i.html%3F I saw that posted on whirlpool a couple of days ago. $145 delivered from the official Logitech shop is almost too good an offer to pass up.
Sabor Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 The thing I love about the Harmony One the most is the look and feel. Also, I remember some questions were raised regarding it's build quality. After 18 months of constant use, it's showing no signs of wear and tear whatsoever. For $145 delivered, it's a straightforward purchase.
AndrewW Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 For $145 delivered, it's a straightforward purchase. My 785 is a couple of years old and close to being retired. The thing that bugs me the most is spending 5 minutes trying to get it sitting right in the charger so that it will actually charge. Have they fixed this with the One?

myrantz Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 The One seems to just slot into it's cradle and charge with no problems. Same for me charging wise.. After a few months of use I realised that the rubber grip on the back has worn off... But that's with pretty rough use.. I have the same issue with my 880 when it comes to charging. To fix it I just put a pile of weight on the LCD screen and it charges fine... Looks ugly, but a quick and ez fix.
AndrewW Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 The One seems to just slot into it's cradle and charge with no problems. Cool, thanks for that.

Guest Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Personally I think they are OK at best. The hardware is good but the software is terrible. It treats you like an idiot and to do any advanced programming the options are all over the place and hidden away. My One takes a full 2 minutes to update any change, which you will be doing a lot of when tuning it becuase they never work right 1st go or 1st 40 goes for that matter. unless all your devices have discreet on / off codes you will be having problem with devices turning off when they should be on and vice versa. The remote doesnt track power status properly and doesnt track changes made in 'devices' menus at all as far as I can tell. Our remote basically almost never gets it right on an activity and we have to use the help almost every time
Sabor Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 (edited) Personally I think they are OK at best. The hardware is good but the software is terrible. It treats you like an idiot and to do any advanced programming the options are all over the place and hidden away. To do any customised functions is far from intuitive and is somewhat limited. Having said that I haven't as yet encountered a scenario which couldn't be done using basic macros. Ie to watch the 3D Foxtel Channel, without the One I would have been required to set the Sammy to 3D by going into a menu, setting the appropriate 3D mode and pressing Enter. No problems having the One do that and a button assigned to that function. Also, before the IR to Bluetooth PS3 adapter came out, I had a cheapie IR USB Dongle so to turn off the PS3 relied on something like 13 button presses which the One handled as well. You just needed to keep the remote pointed to the PS3 unless all your devices have discreet on / off codes you will be having problem with devices turning off when they should be on and vice versa. Haven't really come across many devices which don't have discreet on/off codes. How about yourself? The only one which really comes to mind is the PS3 before the IR adapter came out. Then there's HTPC's maybe? The remote doesnt track power status properly and doesnt track changes made in 'devices' menus at all as far as I can tell. Yes, this can be painful. Would have been very cool if the remote kept track of this. I get around it by assigning any button I could possibly need to the Activity for the remote to keep track of it. Not 100% ideal but does the job just fine. Edited December 6, 2010 by Sabor
MickB...... Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 My 785 is a couple of years old and close to being retired. The thing that bugs me the most is spending 5 minutes trying to get it sitting right in the charger so that it will actually charge. Have they fixed this with the One? My 785 died and I replaced it with a new 700. The 700 only controls 6 devices rather than 15.. Looked at the One but its missing the four coloured buttons that I use for PVR functionality. The 900 has them but it is over twice the price. As for charging the 700 now has rechargable AA Sanyo Eneloop batteries that charge through the USB cable with a wall socket to USB supplied. It will also use any other AA's. I had the same problem with the 785, it took forever to get it to sit right on the cradle. I'm expecting they will release a new model above the 700 to be released shortly, probably an 800, which should be a better match to the functionality for the 785. The One looks to be in run out mode as the price has dropped quite a bit.
diesel Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I've never had any issues with my 785 sitting in the cradle - was it an issue with earlier models perhaps?
Nevyn72 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I've never had any issues with my 785 sitting in the cradle - was it an issue with earlier models perhaps? Never had a problem with my One and it's cradle either. I believe there were issues with the 880 model though.......
AndrewW Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I've never had any issues with my 785 sitting in the cradle - was it an issue with earlier models perhaps? You are lucky then, there are oodles of people who have the problem. It can take 5 minutes of fiddling about, usually swearing loudly, to get the thing to sit in the cradle so that the contacts actually engage.
thomfam Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I bought my Harmony 880 several years ago for over $280. Over time and with plenty of use some of the buttons no longer worked, the recharging issue arose and it was showing its age. I bought one of these http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...E:X:AAQ:AU:1123 Not bad, looks brand new to me and cost $85 delivered! Now all is working perfectly again. I had to use my older power pack as this one came with USA plug. It does have a problem with my older Samsung Plasma TV and finding the "Source" at times. All I did was a add a "source" link to the screen via "Customize Buttons" and a couple of quick clicks gets it to the correct source easily and swiftly!
