alanh Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 All, Nero This site says it will compress the program to MPEG4 and burn it to a standard DVD-R disk. This disk is playable on Blue Ray and HD DVD players. Has anyone tried it and what is the maximum program duration which will fit on to the disk? Of even more interest to me, is will it record HD signals from a Nebula DVB-T tuner. AlanH
digitalj Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 depends on the bit-rate you use. e.g. you could fit a 2 hour movie on a 8.5GB Dual Layer disc if you use an overall average bit-rate of 9.6Mbps, e.g. you could use 448Kbps for AC3 DD 5.1 leaving about 9.1Mbps for video at 1080i (would be the equivalent quality of a 1080i* broadcast signal using MPEG-2 at 18.2Mbps). so in summary you could make a 2 hour recording with AC3 DD 5.1 at 448Kbps and 1080i* Video at 9.1Mbps using the MPEG-4 format. *1080i Could be replaced with 720p.
