scottylans Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Not sure if this will work, and it relates to the Owners Thread Bob Why is it that pictures of TV's often look better than the TV's themselves! The colours in the bumblebee shot are brilliant - the aliasing however is awful - oh that would make me miss my CRT (free 'blur' can be good and bad) Megan Fox looks kind of off colour but it could be just that scene? Care to grab some snaps perhaps of some other stuff?
pneu Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 (edited) That last one is helping to confirm my suspicion that all panasonics suffer from oompaloompa syndrome. Even in the first one, look at the orange around his eyes. Sorry I'm being negative! Edited June 3, 2008 by pneu
bobbyf Posted June 3, 2008 Author Posted June 3, 2008 Here's some more Thought i'd include one of the EPG in case anyone was wondering what it looked like Remember though, this is paused DVD, so it aint gonna look perfect. You can see the jaggies in most. Bob
scottylans Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Well again the colours look absoloutely fantastic, the ridiculous thing is, I'm looking at pictures of a display, taken by a digital camera, on my LCD laptop (with a terrible picture on it normally) So I'm either kidding myself or they just 'pop' out of the LCD. The pixelation sucks but that's life with a digital display and hopefully that stands out a lot more due to being paused as you say - plus it's only DVD as a source. Boy it's gonna be hard to use my PS2 and Wii on one of those babies - but I'll get over it for the size increase. Hunting for one tomorrow I think
pneu Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Looks great, can't see any oompaloompas in those pics The aliasing is probably due to the DVD player pausing on a field instead of a frame (some DVD players have an option for that in the menu) so you're really only looking at 720x288 when you pause it which is bugger all resolution for a whopping 50"er.
spud42 Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 just got back from the local retravision seeing the pana42 80a next to a 42" sammy the sammy had a better pic until we got the guy to drop the colour on the pana from 50 to around 45... till then the reds were "blooming" really too bright. at the new setting it made my mind up . i am getting the panasonic 80a...
