HomerJ Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I've had my new IQ2 for approx 1 hr and was watching the Hawks vs Bulldogs I'd recorded on my old IQ1. Replaced with IQ2 via HDMI. Switched to Hawks vs Bulldogs on Fox1 and the picture is bloody awful. I am calling Foxtel to complain. Yes HD looks fantastic but since almost all my viewing will be standard def then I'll have to return the IQ2. I'd say about 40% less resolution and colours are compressed too. WARNING: IQ2 via HDMI for non-HD channels is unwatchable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Though i had to change a setting away from 14:9 as it did look rather crap for a lot of channels. Was in one of the video settings.

HomerJ Posted June 3, 2008 Author Posted June 3, 2008 I've now connected component via SCART cable and that's improved the picture for SD but still seems worse than the original IQ via same cable/connections. HDMI for SD channels is not useable.

ESPN SD on anything other than Sportscenter is barely watchable - but ESPN always was terrible.

Its not any worse and I can't see any improvement.
cejay Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 (edited) I'm watching Motogp replay now and the quality is the same as I saw on Sunday. Edited June 3, 2008 by cejay

I agree Some of the SD content is brilliant, (maybe better than before?? dunno, certainly good) whilst many are still mush. Status quo I reckon I did have severe breakup (blockiness all over the shop) at about 11pm last night though, on all the HD fta channels in particular. The BBC HD channel was still spectacular. I haven't channel surfed all night like that for ages. That suggests to me the PQ is pretty good (on a 106" screen)
