Blackman1503561291 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I went to JB Hi-Fi to buy 2 blu-rays this morning but it seems that about 1/3 of their titles do not qualify for the buy two get one free promotion. Its funny how there is always fine print isn't it? I also visited EzyDVD for their promotion of buy 2 get one free and their prices are ridiculous. I think its time for me to get a debit visa card so I can start buying movies from the UK and US. Just one quick question, just to confirm this, any movie you buy from either the US or UK that is reported to be region free (In the blue) will work on Australian region B players, is this correct?.

That seems to be the way the Mo has set it up.
the_wonderchild Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 it is ridiculous regarding the fineprint of the deal isn't it? Not to mention the fact that nearly all the time the staff have hoarded popular titles out the back.
PKK Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Last time I visit they said promotion is for movie only so no music disc included as well as boxset or Disney related titles.
Blackman1503561291 Posted June 3, 2008 Author Posted June 3, 2008 Not to mention the fact that nearly all the time the staff have hoarded popular titles out the back. I rang them once to see if they had the Rat movie in and they said yes and I asked how many do you have as my friends want a copy (BULL FROM ME) I arrived 3/1/2 hrs later on the way home and they had none and said to me they had none in the first place as they have been sold out for days. I kick up a stink and the guy went out the back and found one so work that out.
Rbk Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 (edited) Isn't it just Music, Games and Boxsets excluded? I mean that's pretty much the norm when they have their 3 for 2 It's not like they go out and pick single titles that you cant have Edited June 3, 2008 by Rbk
the_wonderchild Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Isn't it just Music, Games and Boxsets excluded? I mean that's pretty much the norm when they have their 3 for 2It's not like they go out and pick single titles that you cant have sometimes at certain stores, it more or less is. When the popular titles fly off the shelf on the morning of the sale's first day, then something is most certainly up. And they've excluded Disney and all Disney subsiduary distribution products..oh and the $25 titles.
klokwerk Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 The exclusions include... * Anything distributed by Disney. They did not partake in the B2G1F due to their $24.98 sale. That means none of the $24.98 titles are in the B2G1F nor are their titles which are not on sale, such as the Pirates of the Caribbean films. * Boxsets. Some stores seem to have misunderstood this term. It includes the Pixar Short Films, Spiderman Trilogy and Planet Earth. * Music blu-rays. It was unclear at first but has since been reinforced that these are not included in the deal. That's it. If you are told by a store that something is excluded, don't take crap from them. I know in my store we've had no issues with the blu-ray deal apart from a few people mistakenly bringing up Disney titles. Even the new releases are automatically part of the deal. I bought Unbreakable, Signs and Sweeney Todd today. Went through the B2G1F no problems. So, when you go to your store, find out if they have what you want, get them and make them put them through B2G1F. Sick of a few JB stores giving the rest of us a bad rep.
digitalj Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Theoretically, they have no reason to exclude items if we're paying for them, i.e. exclusions should only apply to the one you get free. e.g. I should be able to get: 2 disney movies and 1 other movie free providing the other movie is 1. less than or equal to in price to both disney movies 2. not on the exclusion list. After all, If I got 2 other movies in place of the disney movies and still got the other one free, then what loss are they making? So you hear that JB-HI-FI, Exclusions should only apply to the Movie you get Free.
T800 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Big W also has a fair few titles in there new catalogue for $23 each.
the_wonderchild Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Big W also has a fair few titles in there new catalogue for $23 each. mmmh.....really? Where are those junk-mail deliveries when you need them! i can see what you're saying klokwerk, i just feel that sometimes each store almost seems to have their own rules.

I won't waste my time with those w@nkers after the Spidey debarkle. They advertised the trilogy cheap but never ever got it into stock and refused to let me raincheck it at the cheap price.

I walked out of JB's with disgust yesterday only to be stopped by another gentleman asking what with the blu ray problem?. I explained to him and he also walked off after I told him to tell all these greedy shops to go to hell and start importing them in from amazon's either from the US or UK yourself. They lost two quick sales yesterday+ the future. ALL I wanted was Crimson Tide as my 3rd disc. Well I'm off to BigW tomorrow morning so I hope I don't find another racket there like "SORRY WE ARE OUT OF STOCK" like last time 5 minutes after the shop opened. This time I will be there opening time.

Near every day i would reckon there are more people who look and bail out than those who participate in the deal (i myself have done exactly that at least 6 times and only purchased once; during this deal that is). Like you, hope Big W don't pull a shifty either. I'm only after the one title.

Personally I am sick of it of someone trying to stooge or outsmart you these days.
SDL Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 It was only after getting to the desk I found out about the Disney exclusion - it wasn't on the shelf saying Disney movies excluded, bought them anyway but was none too pleased paying full price. Certainly stopped me going back for more at these 'Sale' prices.

Yes but its not only Disney its there sub studios too after all I wanted Crimson Tide as my free movie and he said to me thats its Buena Vista which is owned by Disney so to hell with them. "I ENCOURAGE ALL FROM NOW ON TO IMPORT YOUR OWN MOVIES" This has converted me.

Fine in theory mate but region coding makes this difficult at times.
Blackman1503561291 Posted June 4, 2008 Author Posted June 4, 2008 Fine in theory mate but region coding makes this difficult at times. Just to confirm If you buy region free US titles (The ones marked blue in the list in this forum) will they work in our OZ players?
Volunteer Kazz Posted June 4, 2008 Volunteer Posted June 4, 2008 Just to confirm If you buy region free US titles (The ones marked blue in the list in this forum) will they work in our OZ players? Yep
SDL Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Just to confirm If you buy region free US titles (The ones marked blue in the list in this forum) will they work in our OZ players? True, but that rules out those some of the Disney titles, Sony and FOX. I have Universal, WB and Paramount on HD DVD.
jayweb Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Fine in theory mate but region coding makes this difficult at times. And confusing.....I pity those who haven't found Mo's list and try to import....
Blackman1503561291 Posted June 4, 2008 Author Posted June 4, 2008 Yep Thanks! Now its time for a ANZ debit Visa card
Blackman1503561291 Posted June 4, 2008 Author Posted June 4, 2008 And confusing.....I pity those who haven't found Mo's list and try to import.... Yes its a job well done by Mo Just think JB I have a long list of Family members being ethnic and being the oldest they always look up to me for information, They also all have Hi Def TV + blu-ray players but also have my problem of no credit cards (Debit Visa card will fix that) but will listen to me where to buy them in the future so now what you have is 5 family members that won't purchase anymore from your shop.
