G'day,

I am selling my Rotel RMB-1095 5x200w amplifier.

This is the silver and black version and it is in excellent condition. It is approximately 4 years old, but has barely been used for the last two years as I no longer have a 5.1 setup.

This amp has had no problems driving a multitude of speakers and would make an excellent upgrade for those with the typical AVR that want a big powerful sound for movies. If the Elektra 7-channel amp is beyond yer budget then this amp is the next best thing IMHO.

It is quite good for music reproduction as well.

Reviews:

I know I am reviving an old post, but just wandering if you still have this amp for sale? *fingers crossed*

While I can't speak for the OP, I happen to have a NAD T975 power amp for sale (7x 140W into 8 ohms) if that's something you might be interested in instead. I wouldn't normally mention it in someone else's sale thread, but this one hasn't been updated for nine months so I really doubt I'm stepping on any toes (I hope not, anyway).

I just upgraded to a NAD M25, so the T975 has to go to recoup some of the damage. The 975 is a wonderful amp, in totally mint condition, and, though it's just out of warranty, has always performed flawlessly. It's still a current model, and retails for $3500RRP. I'm looking for $2500. If you're in Perth, message me and you can come have a listen if you're interested...

Gday, hope all goes well with your sale, I recently purchased a demo T973 with 2 years warranty from a Hifi shop in Bunbury and would really like to give biamping a go, I can't quite afford another amp but I'll keep tabs on the post and check the budget.

Hey Amleth, I tried to PM you but your messages are disabled, I think you need to get you post count up.

Ah, I thought that limitation just stopped me messaging others, not others messaging me. Oh well, it shouldn't take too long to put some posts in. This is +1 already...

Edit: Okay, looks like all it took was the +1.

I was actually looking at that model, but I think it would be way out of my price range, considering I would have to spend another $1k on a reciever too. Was hoping to spend around $3k all up on reciever and power amp. Thanks anyway

May I mention I picked up a T975 new for not much more $ than this.

For $3,000.00 all-up, may I recommend a Rotel RMB1077 7-channel Class D Power Amplifier (RRP $2,200.00 - should be able to be had for about $1,800.00) and something like a Yamaha '863 A/V Receiver. Should be able to get both for about the $3,000.00 mark altogether - otherwise, a smidgen more.

I am looking to replace my current poweramp setup which comprises of a Rotel RB1080 (2x200W) and RB993 (3x200W) with a single multichannel poweramp unit to save rack space. Furthermore, the RB993 doesn't have 12V trigger so it is really painful coz I have to turn it on manually each time. Will this RMB1077 be a sideway move or stepdown from my current setup. If it is a sideway move, then it sounds like an option. My speakers currently consists of three Dynaudio Ambience (low sensitivity) for fronts, and two Equinox Audio Alphelion for rears.

I would say that price-wise and level-wise, it would be a down-ward move. However, the Rotel RMB1077 has received rave reviews world-wide, even from people who are prejudiced against Class D amplification.

I would say that in your situation, if 5 channels worth of amplification is all you are after, possibly look at a Rotel RMB1575, which is a new 5 x 250-watt Class D Power Amplifier. RRP is $4,500.00. Then you can sell off your RB1080 and '993.

The 1077 seems to be a good choice for my small setup.... hmmmm hmmmm hmmmm hmmmm.....

I actually put a deposit down for a '1077, but due to unavailability for several weeks, ended up purchasing a much-more expensive NAD M25 Power Amplifier. I read heaps of reviews, and was very impressed with what I had read about the '1077.

However, the RB1080 and '993 combo that sschen has, I am sure, is probably a level (price-wise definitely) up performance-wise.

I have the Rotel 1565. 5 x 100 into 8 ohm, but importantly 5x200 into 4 ohm which shows the current capability. It is an awesome amp and can be had for about $1900 or so. I have had a NAD M25, Rotel 1077 and an Elektra and the Rotel more than holds it own, I actually prefer the sound of the Rotel. Far quicker than both the others and the midrange is magnificent. The NAD had more power and sounds a bit more dynamic, more dynamic than the Elektra. The Elektra is also fantastic, a bit more transparen than the NAD M25. To my ears the Rotel has the transparency of the Elektra with 90% of the dynamics of the NAD. the only upgrade path I could ever foresee is to the 5x250w Rotel 1575...but not at $4999 RRP.

In short, go the Rotel 1565. Clearly the best bang for buck power amp out there at the moment

If you are serious about selling your current Rotel amps then let me know (also in Perth) as I may be interested.

Thanks for the recomendations guys, I have a lot to think about now. I was a bit hesitant with the class D amplifiers, but I will do some more research and reading. Or do you guys recomend a stand alone unit like the Yamaha 3900? save on space and it seems to have decent amount of power to drive my speakers. Will be getting some speakers made by Edward from Adelaide speakers.

If you don't mind a "starter" receiver, I think West Coast HiFi Osbourne Park still has some Denon 1908s left at $550 clearance (The new 1909's no good in this application as it doesn't have 7.1 pre-outs). I had my M25 connected to my brother's 1908 last week to see what his Krixes could do with a bit more grunt behind them, and it was nothing to complain about. I'd prefer a proper pre/pro if it was me, though, but I can't think of a better option under $1K that has LPCM support and Audyssey.

Corza,

Just interested in why you upgraded from 1077 --> ??? --> 1565? What are your thoughts on the 1077 vs 1565?

Thanks,

The Yamaha RX-V3900 is a very good A/V Receiver, and there is no doubt that you will be very happy with it.

The great thing about purchasing a dedicated Power Amplifier is that a good one will last you for many years, and if you love its 'sound', you can keep it while you change your A/V Receiver (serving as a Pre-amplifier/Processor) or Processor, each time there are updates, new formats, etc.

The thing with A/V Receivers is that new formats, etc, get released, and each time you change your A/V Receiver, the sound 'signature' changes, etc.

Either way, I am sure that you will be happy.

Thanks for this. I will have to look into this. I don't necessarily want to "upgrade" but I don't want to downgrade from my current setup either. I will prefer to replace the two power amps with a single multichannel poweramp to save rack space. The rack is basically full already so one of the stereo amp is sitting on a shelf of the TV cabinet, everything else is on a separate AV rack. The Rotel 1575 is class D I assume?

As Dan says seperates gives you flexibility lamtran . I have Edward's timberwolve 8892 model which are low impedance 4 ohm designs and my rotel rmb 1077 loves these hard to drive models [rated down to 2 ohms unlike many a/b class designs ;) ]

How high is the yam ? 8 or 9" ? My 1077 is 4" high and my pre pro is about 5" :) A seperate video processor is almost a must though for switching :winky:
