barrylb Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Just had a call from Austar saying they want to send someone around on Monday to do a 'quality control check' of my MyStar installation 'because it is a new product'. Has anyone else had this? I really don't know what they expect to find. The only things they can check are the cabling and look at the box in operation.... seems strange.

Thats sounds heaps sus, I have a friend who is a detective, he told me a while ago that people used to cold call others just to check when they werent home to rob them, they'd use Austar, Ergon, Gas whatever to get your details. I'm not saying thats what this is, but I've been a customer of Austar for nearly 10 years and they have never done a "welfare check" for me just to see how things are. I have Mystar also. The installer/tech has to get paid, doesn't make good business sense to send people out "just in case" you have a problem...... I would call Austar back and see if it was genuine, I really hope it was......
barrylb Posted June 2, 2008 Author Posted June 2, 2008 Well the technician came by on Monday morning and didn't steal all my stuff or anything like that, so all is good. He reckoned there were a few issues with the installation needing fixing - the wall plate was not straight; one of the plugs was supposed to have been replaced; and he measured the signal levels and said the levels were too low and the waveforms were not what he expected so he will arrange for someone to come and fix the cables...

Was this guy from ATS? I know they are sending Quality Technicians around to random customers to make sure the installs are done correctly. Doesn't mean that the tech that did the install was no good. If he was from ATS he would have had an ID badge with his details on it and should have showed it to you. Edited June 3, 2008 by Cable Guy
