gleff Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Hi all, I have a 2-3 year old Pioneer VSX-D511 and i'm thinking of upgrading. Is it worth upgrading to a Yamaha RX-V663? I realize the Yamaha is newer and has HDMI and more features etc but strictly speaking, am I likely to notice any difference to what I've currently got if most of my viewing is FTA TV anyway, the odd DVD, and odd Blu-Ray? I'm just not sure if it's worth spending a grand on a new receiver if I'm unlikely going to notice any real difference in sound quality. Incidently, my speakers are also in need of an upgrade.. but at the moment I only have a grand at my disposal. Any suggestions?

I currently have el cheapo speakers so it's probably worth the upgrade at this point. Thanks Geoff

Just spending $3k + on a set of speakers because someone on this forum has previously and then claims how superior thay are, may lead to a lot of disappointment .
Azz123 Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Rather than invest in a new AVR for a $1k, this would be a significant step up for the money - linkie
