As the title says guys & gals, anyone have any first hand info on whether this actually works. I have the 40GB PS3 so I know the PS2 games wont work, but am getting conflicting info through search engines.

Thinking of buying some through auction site......

Thanks in advance, J.

Yes, I have used the PS2 buzzers on my PS3. You will also be able to use the PS2 versions on the upcoming PS3 Buzz release 'Quiz TV' (although the new wireless ones will be awesome!).

Sony has sold over 150,000 sets of Buzzer controllers in the past two years in Australia. The PS2 controllers will be compatible with the PS3's Quiz TV, but fans might want to trade up to the new wireless versions, which feel a lot more solid in the hand and help ensure your mates don't trip over on the way to the fridge to get another beer.

That "trip on them going to get a beer" comment is -incredibly- valid. Thats happened about 3 times in my house. Plus everytime I go to play the game it feels like untangling christmas lights - bring on the wireless!!

I totally agree!

We have had numerous accidents due to people tripping over the wires, or getting excited and pulling them etc. And I never enjoy having to untangle them before use (whilst everyone else sits back with a beer!).

I will definitely be picking up the wireless buzzers when they are released. I’m pleased to hear they are heavier and feel sturdier too.

Microsoft cheaped out on the Scene It? controllers. I thought they'd be using wireless technology, but rather they use a USB plug-in infra-red receptor which plugs into the 360 and that is placed on or around the 360, then the controllers are infra-red. Still technically wire-less, but it loses a few e-cool points. Maybe real wireless would have been too costly.

i can also confirm they will work on the ps3. but im holding out for the wirless for both buzz and Singstar.

My dog, when it was a puppy, chewed through the cords of one of buzz controllers and microphones - tried the strip back and twist the wires together which worked for a while but im sick of untaggling them anyway....
