addenwood Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Does anybody know when the listings for the HD channels are going to be available? I have read on this forum that they are not in the June Foxtel mag, even though the rep I spoke to from Foxtel told me they would be!!!. The BBCHD website is now up but only gives the standard info, Doco's, Drama, Proms etc......surely it is known what the listings are going to be, so when are the public expected to get a look in???
doodlefeatures Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 The June magazine still says Nat Geo and Discovery will be one channel
Was_There_Then Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 This is something I am trying to find out myself. With less than a week until roll-out I would have thought we would be able to find listings for the HD channels. I for one, am not overly impressed with the thought of paying the $200 upgrade fee. That stance may change however once I find out exactly what sort of content I will be paying for. For example, I am definitely interested in learning what sort of programs will be shown on BBC HD & would also be highly tempted if they were to show next season’s EPL games in HD.
kopthat Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 I would be interested to know if they will have a viewers choice in HD for the EPL matches. Not much point having it in HD if your team isn't featured.

I wouldn't think they would be able to do that until the new sat goes up as they wouldn't be able to upgrade the viewers choice channels to HD because of bandwidth limitations. Even then I don't know if every EPL match is produced in HD

Jaap74 Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 We get more games than they do in the UK, aren't only the live games in UK in HD? That I don't know. I lived in the UK for 10 years and moved back to Sydney in November. All home International Cricket, Premiership Rugby, Championship and Premier League live events were broacast in HD. As for the Premiership I reckon they shoot them all in HD but don't quote me on that. I do know that all the games that the BBC showed (Internationals and FA Cup) were in HD. I don't know whether Match Of The Day was on the BBC HD channel though. So I basically don't know very much
Hosko Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 All the Premier League matches shown on SKY are in HD, even the Championship games. No they're not, the last Sunday they showed 3 games, 2 were in HD and the third was in SD only.
Jaap74 Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 No they're not, the last Sunday they showed 3 games, 2 were in HD and the third was in SD only. I stand corrected. Hosko : are you in the UK ? or do you have some insider info ? Cheers
Hosko Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Hosko : are you in the UK ? or do you have some insider info ? No, I noticed it on the Sky Sports website. The Man U and Chelsea matches were in HD the third one I can't remember which team wasn't
Jaap74 Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 OK cool. I've very keen to see the Premiership in HD via Foxtel, they have a few months to sort it out luckily.
trebo36 Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Does anybody know when the listings for the HD channels are going to be available? Less than 1 week out and no definite program details - very poor Foxtel ! A shopping centre Foxtel sales person advised me today that there would be no proram details until 2 June (on the Foxtel EPG). He also advised that FoxsportsHD would have no duplicate progamming to the other 3 Foxsports channels, which worries me. Is some sport currently shown on Foxsports going to 'dissappear' to HD only? I also asked about golf (because that's the only reason I have Foxtel). Was advised that all I would see in HD was the occasional USPGA major - which I can watch now on TenHD. You are a worry Foxtel !
ShadySoldier Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 I highly doubt foxtel would swap content from sd foxports to the hd foxsports

You are a worry Foxtel ! No chance of that. If its live on Fox Sports HD then it also be live on Standard Definition Fox Sports Channels! No doubt about it.
MattWinter Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Last season there were 92 (out of 380) games produced in HD, I'm guessing that's all the games Sky produced? Information about distribution etc. is here: http://www.sportbusiness.com/news/162124/t...onal-production
GaryN Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 No chance of that.If its live on Fox Sports HD then it also be live on Standard Definition Fox Sports Channels! No doubt about it. Sadly Foxtel are unable to stream HD live. Any live games will be in SD.
BrownMan1503562132 Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Sadly Foxtel are unable to stream HD live. Any live games will be in SD. are you saying Foxtel cannot show any live sport in HD? Surely that isn't correct. Why would people sign up then? Just to watch the match replayed in HD? I won't be signing up if that's the case, l'll just have the IQ2.
doodlefeatures Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Sadly Foxtel are unable to stream HD live. Any live games will be in SD. I'm pretty sure that the EPG has Sydney v Richmond at 1.00 Sunday on the HD channel, that's when the game is on
Hosko Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Sadly Foxtel are unable to stream HD live. Any live games will be in SD. You are talking absolute bullshit. If Foxtel can't stream any live matches in HD why is Monday night Football this monday night saying its live. Why is the USPGA on live tomorrow morning. What do you think they send the tapes over from the states and show it on delay. In fact its actually easier for a TV station to show something live then on a couple hour delay.
DansDans Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Sadly Foxtel are unable to stream HD live. Any live games will be in SD. You'd better tell Foxtel, as they seem to have quite a few LIVE sporting events listed on their HD channel this weekend (and for the next week). Or are you referring specifically to EPL? Because if you are, you didnt make that clear, and you'll will confuse a lot of people on these fourms (considering the amount of confusing comments already in some of the posts) Not only, as doodle said, is the AFL on, but Monday night NRL including pre-show as well
Hosko Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 (edited) Or are you referring specifically to EPL? Because if you are, you didnt make that clear, and you'll will confuse a lot of people on these fourms (considering the amount of confusing comments already in some of the posts) I might have jumped the gun if he was talking about EPL because at this stage active is only SD but he was replying to this comment and did actually quote it in his original reply If its live on Fox Sports HD then it also be live on Standard Definition Fox Sports Channels! No doubt about it. I did seem like he was saying Foxtel couldn't show any live events in HD. Edited May 30, 2008 by Hosko
GaryN Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I'm pretty sure that the EPG has Sydney v Richmond at 1.00 Sunday on the HD channel, that's when the game is on Hi Guys, I'm only relating what was told to me. This is straight from the proverbial horse's mouth. I would be most pleased if the Foxtel guy is wrong, but he went on to say 'Well, nobody can stream hd content live' ?!? IMHO this whole HD roll-out by Foxtel is complete FUBAR. Few channels, only 720, and they want you to pay for the privilege when all the FTA channels have managed roll out HD (at 1080) at no extra charge (well, at least not directly). Worst company ever.

So how exactly has channel 10 being showing live AFL, Idol, so you think you can dance. Plus all the other live HD shows currently on TV. Who is this Foxtel person who told you this, sounds like they don't have a clue
