cowabungadude Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 According to an article on MSNBC, the economic crunch has put consumers off buying large flat-screen TVs who are instead opting for smaller, cheaper models. This has apparently led to an oversupply of models over 32 inches which may trigger some radical price drops. Analysts are predicting that 40 inch models will "fall below $1,000 by the 2008 fourth quarter." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24775548/

Wondering if it is possible to bring a LCD from US, besides the input voltage, is the TV format different between Aus and US?

The freight would be a killer apart from the voltage probs and warranty.
Shonky* Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Digital TV in the US is ATSC. Australia uses DVB. So whilst similar they definitely aren't interchangeable. You'd need an Australian set top box. Freight would be the killer. Have you seen the size of even a 42" box, let alone a 50" or 60"? And the voltage issue. And no warranty. Simply not worth it unfortunately.
