excite Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Saw 42" Hisense LCD ticketed at $1180 at Good Guys for clearance, the appearance and picture were fine. any opinions on the price and quality of this LCD?
TheCarFreak Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 I have a friend who bought a 32" Hisense and its pretty bad. Reliability is a problem, they had to get it fixed twice in the last year, and the PQ is not good compared to brands like LG, Sony, Samsung, etc. Did they have an animated movie running on it?

Guest EZYHD Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Its the old story one gets what one pays for, can get as said name brands at or near same price these days with bargaining.
larry42 Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 i've seen a hisense tv before-i wasn't impressed with it...the pic quality was quite poor imho....
MrGadget Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 (edited) Buying a Hisense seems to make Lowsense. Sorry I couldn't help myself with that comment. Edited May 27, 2008 by MrGadget
kulfi Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Buying a Hisense seems to make Lowsense. I tried this one some time ago but copped a lot of flak for it - Hisense = Nonsense Where is 'digitalhome' in this thread ? He's pushing Hisense a lot in his new role as a flat TV installer and he always shows up when someone makes a negative comment about his favourite brand.

Yeah, I don't usually make replies like this but I just couldn't help myself this time. I should add that I haven't seen a Hisnse LCD for myself but going by what others are saying, getting a known brand like Samsung for similar money seems like a much safer option.
drsmith Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 A person's opinion should always be weighed up against the evidence that person has provided to support that opinion.

Just to clarify ( and even after checking my posts ) I have only mentioned "Hisense" in only 1 post, and was in regard to the brand's warranty, not performance based against any other manufacturer ( god help me if I positioned against your beloved samsung, the world would be coming to an end), so I fail to see where your allegations exist. Please prove it in text or STFU! Plus, as a quick conclusion to your low intellect, my favorite brand of panel is Pioneer. Yes I do own one, and it is FAR BETTER than any panel that samsung ( just for reference) has ever made in performance, and in particular, reliability. And yes, I CAN PROVE THAT! Please stay out of the deep water where you can't swim! Edited May 27, 2008 by digitalhome
pistolpoida Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 i see hisense at my work they are the tvs which have a) tone of the worst pictures imo, and the tv which have the most recpection troubles in the work place, they are not that good quailty imo and u get a better brand such as samsung or lg which has a better tuner and a better panel, and there in home 3yr replacement they use refrubuinessed sets as the replacment sets, which is as good as a repair anyway
kulfi Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Yes I do own one, and it is FAR BETTER than any panel that samsung ( just for reference) has ever made in performance, and in particular, reliability. And yes, I CAN PROVE THAT! Please stay out of the deep water where you can't swim! Q.E.D. Hisense and digitalhome, TCL and treblid, Kogan and sail, Millennius and spaztech - joined at the hip. Fanboys or trolls, let the public decide. You must be getting more commission by selling this brand to unsuspecting mums and dads. The big manufacturers don't have much of a reward for sub-sellers. I should know, one of my colleagues has a side-business of buying products from the distributor in Sydney and selling to individuals. I couldn't care less for Samsung. They are doing well now, so it's on the radar. If they stuff up like LG has been doing of late, out they go ! If someone wanted a plasma and had a big budget, I'd have recommended Pioneer. If LG was better, I would've gone for that. If Sony was more price-effective, Sony would have been the choice. I always recommend things that are price-effective, are branded, have decent build quality and will deliver good performance in most cases.

Now if you read that in the full context, it reads more like he owns a pioneer, not a hisense?

Then why is he so fired up whenever I say Hisense = Nonsense ? There has got to be some explanation for this.
fawlty99 Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Then why is he so fired up whenever I say Hisense = Nonsense ? There has got to be some explanation for this. I think the explanation is pretty obvious if you reread your post. Anyhow back to the OT. Yes you are better off getting a name brand even if it costs slightly more.
kulfi Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 I think the explanation is pretty obvious if you reread your post. I know. It was a rhetorical question. The most difficult thing is removing ideas that are fixed like cement in the common people's mindset. Here are the most common ones - "A decent laptop will cost $2000" "Flat TV = Plasma TV" "Plasma burns in really quickly" "LCD has poor motion response" "Buy LCD upto 32 inches and plasma from 42 inches and beyond" "A big-screen TV of around 50 inches will cost $3000 to $5000" Times have changed and none of these myths are true any more but some people just keep on going.
Autocrat Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 I know. It was a rhetorical question. Do you even know what a rhetorical question is?
myrantz Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Q.E.D. Hisense and digitalhome, TCL and treblid, Kogan and sail, Millennius and spaztech - joined at the hip. Fanboys or trolls, let the public decide. Just when i decided to unblock your posts I see this... FWIW, treblid (aka myself) has decided to quit the HT hobby and move on to other hobbies... So I will appreciate it a lot if you do not quote my name or my responses in the future for your silly fanboi posts. I don't care what the public thinks, but I think you do need to grow up. And your now still in my blocked list... You can continue to trash low name brands to boost your ego; I fail to see your motivation, and I don't really care anymore... If the mods has any sense at all they should ban you from this forum as this forum is losing quality with members like you. I always try to attack the product or topic and never the person, but for you I have made an exception. Print yourself a award for being the best troll ever and hang it proudly with your whatever Samsung TV that you own.. You should be proud of yourself, because obviously very few people feel that way about you...

People who say "Buy a big brand by paying a very small premium" and give their honest opinion must be banned so that the forum can be taken over by the Kogan, Hisense, TCL trolls. After saying this - I couldn't care less for Samsung. They are doing well now, so it's on the radar. If they stuff up like LG has been doing of late, out they go ! Here's aporetic from Wikipedia and they're different forms of the same thing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aporia Notice how Rhetorical question appears as a related item in this article. Aporia refers to doubt. I wasn't expressing doubt so it was a rhetorical question but if you want to nitpick and claim superiority, it's your call. BTW what's your take on Hisense ?

Wow, they're related on wikipedia, they must be the same. Just put it on the list of things you know nothing about yet pretend that you do, and leave it at that. Save your brain cells for offering recommendations for everyone to ignore. Byeee.

No wonder you're the "Autocrat". You still haven't said anything about Hisense (which is the topic in question here) and are trying to establish your superiority. You've picked the wrong country to live in because we're all "democrats" here.
