Received my first amazon blu-ray order today from the u.s (shipped May 18th), wasn't blown away by the packing quality but everything arrived in good condition with no 'sliders'. Only issue i have is the receipt in the box is for an air freshener, :o:D

does amazon acknowledge the new prices.

if yes.... can anyone help me in letting know how this happens .. .been tryin to go thru the help section to no avail.

Email Amazon and they should refund you the difference. Their delivery service may have slipped a bit, but the customer service is still first rate.

I'm of the opinion that part of the problem with delivery times is due to Aus Post once they arrive here in Australia. I'm sure the international mail centre and customs clearance must get overwhelmed sometimes resulting in delays.

I've had a standard shipping order arrive in 10 days (a record for me in Perth) and other orders have taken up to 26 days.

My last order took 22 days, and one currently in transit shipped 29/5 - 14 days so far.

I'm curious to see how long the next order will take to arrive after it ships. I had an issue with Amazon regarding the availability of a title I had ordered and when I complained about it they upgraded the order to expedited shipping for free.

Its been years since I used expedited option so will be interesting to compare.

They turned up today :) , But not happy with the post man :angry2: :angry2:, left the package behind the letter box in full view of anyone walking past (normally leaves it on the upstairs doorstep) & we have alot of dodgey high school kids that walk past our place every afternoon.

Amazon once left a box of books in my unit foyer in full view of people walking in & out.

My wife was home all day that day & they didn't even bother buzzing her. :angry2:

Since then I only get them delivered to work.

Actually that would be Australia Post that left the box in the foyer. I don't think it is fair to blame Amazon for that.

Australia Post never left anything bulky for my letter box out in the open.

Always received a notice for me to pick it up. That's why I thought it must have been Amazon.

Incidentally, my last order of 8 movies from Amazon was a registered post so I had to go in person to sign for it.

I think that's safer.

Australia Post use sub contractors for parcel delivery and my experience with them has been pretty shabby. Once the parcel leaves the Amazon dispatch centre it is pretty much out of their hands. They are excellent when it comes to dealing with lost items.

I don't think the delay is with customs at all. I'm sure its on Amazon's end.

I think what it is, is some stock may be located at one facility, and other stock in your order is located at another on the other side of the US. So you're probably waiting a couple days for that stock to go by road across the country to the main warehouse. Then once there, I'm pretty sure they wait for a few orders to the same country to stack up and send them all at once to save on cost. It's Amazon's stupid distribution service they spent hundreds of millions setting up.

Whenever I order things from any other store in the US, via UPS or USPS, they take no longer than 7 days. This rules out both customs and USPS/UPS. It's definitely Amazon's fault.

This to all the Amazon Bluray buyers. 20thCentury Fox Bluray discs will definitely not play in Aus. I have purchased at least 30 Bluray discs from the Us and 20th are the only one that are now in the bin. As far as postage is concerned normal time for standard delivery is 5-6 days. This is usually 12.50 odd on a pack of 4-5 movies. I bought National treasure 1 and 2 on Blu ray for 40 bucks included with other dvds. I suggest you get an account (has not cost anything so far) and fill in a purchase get to the end and it will tell you the final price. If not to your liking give it the flick. I will happily answer any questions on this subject.

Placed an order to amazon on the 8th July. It shipped later that day.

Now, I wonder if I can beat the 6 day record???

Son of a.....I'm still waiting for an order I placed 2 weeks ago to actually get sent. It was waiting on one title from the 8th and has been sitting at "shipping soon" for nearly a day. 6 days is also just retardedly quick for standard shipping, it's always been 2 weeks minimum for me.

Always pays to check Momaw's region coding thread at the top of the forum if you aren't using a region A machine. General rule goes;

Fox - 100% region coded

Warner - 100% region free

Paramount - 100% region free

Sony - 50/50

Disney - 50/50

Universal - Presumably 100% region free

Don't chuck your region-locked titles in the bin; there are plenty of people here with US players who will pay you good money for them if you stick them in the trades thread.

Amazon standard delivery for DVDs is always $4.99 per shipment plus $2.99 per DVD. Most of us have found there is no "normal" time for delivery, 5-6 days is certainly on the fast side for Amazon US with 2-3 weeks more common.
