Just saw that Warner was going to start releasing a lot of the New Line stuff such as Shoot 'em Up. As New Line stuff is region protected (I know - bypassable with PS3), would this mean that this stuff would be region free since Warner dont have region protection on their stuff?

Warner Bros. have always owned New Line Cinema. They have just always allowed them to operate as a separate division. But due to the bad run of their films these last few years, Warners have decided to tighten the leash, sacked CEO Bob Shaye and now are running the show. Warner Bros. has always distributed New Line DVD/BD titles, so I don't see their policy changing on region coding BD releases to be honest... Be nice if they did!

Huh?! How does one do that? I have a UK Region2DVD/RegionBbluray ps3. Can I play RegionAbluray titles on it somehow? Please share the info! Thx.

Warner Bros. are tightening the leash on New Line's production system and folding it more into Warner's hands as there haven't really been any profitable films from New Line in quite a few years. The Golden Compass was really the last straw for New Line's parent company. None of this should really have any effect on New Line's distribution system as they already do the distribution for New Line titles anyway.

Simple fact of the matter is, Warner Bros. has always owned New Line and Warner Bros. have distributed New Line titles with region coding, plain and simple! There are many different arms from many different companies have different, contradicting policies, whether in the entertainment field or not. Do you really think a big corporation gives a toss that some Aussie bloke is concerned about contradicting policies?? Of course not!

Just because Warner Bros. release their own Blu-Ray titles without region coding now doesn't mean they won't do it in the future. I'm sure Warner only kept region coding off Warner Bros. BD titles to keep parity with their HD-DVD titles. Now HD-DVD has gone to God, will that policy continue on new release titles?? There is no reason for it in catalog titles, but new titles, yes.

Who really cares if they keep there stuff region coded or not, just get a Region A player. There's better things in the World to think about and enjoy than "region coding"

Also, not all New Line BD titles are bypassable. Some are, but not all. I'm sure that little loophole will close if they continue to use region coding on titles.

But, Warner stuff is region free and New Line stuff isnt.

Unfortunately not everyone has the funds or the room to buy an extra player just to have a region A player or even to replace what they currently have.

I chose to buy a Reg A PS3 right from the start but I don't think I would want two players, although I do know there are a few members who who have two players because of region coding

It is only a workaround for a few New Line titles. When you get a region code error message come up on screen you press triangle to get the pop up menu and then select top menu and you will be able to play the movie.

As I said it only works for a few titles NOT ALL TITLES and I am sure Sony will put out a "fix" in a future firmware
