what does 2.9 deliver over 2.8?

i believe it fixes a problem relating to certain Tosh LCD Tvs when used with high def,dont think it does anything else......

Agree that an Auto mode that worked would be great. Real pain to remember to change to 1080P for SD DVD's or HD-DVD's like the Eagles - Farewell tour that was not shot in 24fps or back again when playing a 24fps disc.

Also a problem when switching between movie and say a special feature that may be in 1080i or non-24fps.

Never noticed this before...how can you tell Eagles is not 24fps and what does the xe1 do? (I know - go and put it on and see what it does; kids playing xbox right now )

Their movements are not smooth,sort of jerky when i set to 24fps,as soon as you change back to 1080p everything smoothes out,i really notice it at the start when strumming the guitar..

Just tried updating my EP10 to 2.9 I got am error message 2007 C100 any ideas ?

Finally sorted it out, instead of using Nero to burn I used Isorecorder.. great program !

Upgrade worked no probs after that.

Are you referring to the shimmering of bright objects in a scene. Eg, opening credits? I noticed it also, but magically dissappeared when I switched it back to 1080p/60.

Yep, basically the XE1 gets confused in V2.8 and onwards re AVc 1080p/24 encodes. I think the frame rate is 1 off what is expected so it thinks it is 1080i and tries to de-interlace it. The frame rate is 29.9X instead of 29.9Y so it confuses it with 1080i or something like that.

I understand that it came in V2.8 when they implemented support for 1080i HD video cameras as the speed conflicted with the AVC 24p encode speed. Hence not fixed and probably won't ever be.

I am on V2.7 and that is where I am staying unless they fix it. I don't have a HD video camera so don't care about the new feature; but I do care about 24p support for AVC encodes.

Has anyone tried this to resolve the playback problems with some combo disks like I am Legend? I have a copy that doesnt play and wondered if upgrading may fix this?

try it if it doesnt fix it then downgrade your firmware as all the downgrades are on this site...

I have I am Legend and played very well on both my E1 and XE1, both have 2.8 fw and region free installed. I have other combo discs like 300 and Departed, no problems ever.....

They and it plays ok on mine. I have V2.7 installed.
