Copyright is not enforced in all Asian countries and on top of that piracy is doing quite well... If it is a brand new release and still playing in the cinema it is likely to be a substandard cam/TS like can be downloaded off the net.

Once the dvd has been mastered and available on inflight movies then the quality would be identical to the upcoming release minus extras. If it is an old release it would be complete and sometimes even better in terms of lots of nice packaging etc... Some of the official Asian releases quite often have superior audio tracks too eg DTS high bitrate etc... or can be a large box set/collection not released anywhere else.

So to answer your question - look at the individual titles and if it is very new and cheap it IS probably too good to be true.

For sure they are pirated... just like these sites

www.buydvd9.com

www.getdtsdvds.com

and a whole swag of other - they are all the same site with different URLs (from Malay too)

The price is always your first telling-sign (and Star Wars box set region free for $15US? - I dont think so)
