drsmith Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 While there is no editable XPL file with Blu-Ray there is a simple method for stripping down to the movie video and audio track of choice and play it back as a movie from Arcsoft TMT where the movie is contained within a single m2ts file. Having ripped to HDD, TsRemux can create a Blu-Ray movie file from the individual m2ts files. BDedit is also needed to read the clipinf file to determine the correct audio and subtitle tracks to retain. With three Blu-Ray movies so far playback results via TMT have been good. The only problem I have encountered is that if movie playback goes to the end of the modified m2ts file, Vista will lock up with Nvidia driver 158.24 but not with Nvidia driver 175.16. With BDedit the process is as simple as selecting a source m2ts file, a destination, the streams from the original m2ts you wish to retain and output format (m2ts, ts or Blu-Ray). Selecting blu-Ray creates the necessary folders and files to play the modified m2ts file from movie folder in TMT. This has the advantage of being able to display playback information and select retained audio and subtitle tracks of choice. Understanding the information displayed with BDedit is a bit more tricky however. TSMuxer will also display this information. TSMuxer can be used in the same way as TsRemux but I have not had reliable playback results in TMT from TSMuxer remuxed m2ts files. Significant total filesize reduction can be achieved by this process, averaging around 25% with the titles I have tried so far. I have not yet encountered any Blu-Ray movies that have the main title spread across multiple m2ts files but I have tried joining two m2ts files using TSsplitter and then creating a Blu-ray file structutre for the combined m2ts file. In this case the duration as displayed on TMT and PDVD is too short and corresponds to the duration of the second input m2ts file. With direct playback of the combined m2ts using TMT from file, the duration is correct.
