jingsu6688 Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Hello guys, I am looking at spending $2000 for a 5.1 system and living in Melbourne, Ringwood to be exact. Where should I go for shopping, apart from HN, JB, etc? I am more after a decent specialised store, if possible, a name of the sale guy would be good. I also find it is very hard to compare speakers quality and price wise, because they are so different. For things like PS3, it is much easier to work out the cheapest price, but speakers are hard with so many brands and model. Any ideas? Thanks a lot. BR/jingsu6688
Aspect Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Hi Jingsu, here are a few places; Carlton Audio Visual Clef Hi fi - South Melbourne Audio Trends - Ringwood A1 Audio - Scorseby (Intersection of Stud and FTG rd) Big Picture people - I've only dealt with the Hoppers Crossing store Speaker choice is purely subjective. You need to go into these stores, give them your budget, and see what they have in your price range, and from there, see which speakers sound good to your ears. Don't be afraid to add 15% to your budget, as all retailers will discount this much off retail. Cheers, Chris

jingsu6688 Posted May 20, 2008 Author Posted May 20, 2008 Hi Prior Kazz Katarn, Excellent replies! Thanks a lot guys. I assume the speakers do not come with cables, plus I need to install some cable points for sur sound. Are they good place to get the cables? There is no point spending too much money for cables, right (if my speakers will only worth $2000)? It seems www.ezyhd.com gets pretty good reviews. Any other online stores? BR/Jing Su

Katarn Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 mate i got my Krix from Clef in South Melb for an excellent price..Go in and check them out.. Yeah I've got some emails back from there pretty knowledgeable and do a good deal.....gave them a $4-5k budget and they came back with 2 x Phoenix, 1 x Centrix, 2 x Equinox and a Seismix Mk 3... I did originally suggest Brix for the rears but they said I'd be better off with the Equinox.. and also perhaps change the Centrix to the KDX Main for a better match to the Phoenix. And for the amo an Integra 7.8 Str0be how are you finding the match between the Phoenix's and the Centrix ?

I've been emailing with one of the Krix guys since I wanted the Phoenixes and was looking at only the MicroCentrix for size reasons. He really didn't recommend it. In his words: You can use either the Centrix or the KDX-C with the Phoenix or Apex without any problems at all It's only about $200 more for the Centrix. It's much bigger though so make sure you have the space. BTW: That's exactly what I'm getting but with the Brix rears Edited May 20, 2008 by Shonky*
beeHT Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Can I ask what sort of prices you guys are getting for the Krix Phoenix?? I know retail is $1349 but was just after an idea on street pricing.

I think Prior mentioned a figure of 15%. That wouldn't be too far off the mark. Krix resellers certainly will budge on price.
