jmichaels Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 greetings all, sorry for the repeat performance, my hands are a bit 'fragile' at the moment and i am not sure if the post i cut off in composition will make it to teh 'list ?? in case it does, i'll be short, here. i have gotten sick and tired of teh kmdg-47, poor signal area = poor reception, it perorts signal of 15-18/67 this one fluctuates red/yellow but spends most of its time in teh red with a quality "rating" of 100% (all green bar). the churpings are getting more noticable and annoying as are teh picture freezes on all channels over 27 (the uhf i guess) the channels in teh 6-12 range (170ish mhz pluss) are better butt eh signal bar stays in teh yellow zone with readings of 40-50. my home comes at teh curtocy of teh dept of housing, when i moved in the antenna was installed upside down and back to front, don't ask, it was replaced and install corectly. the panasonic (tx76) scans and picks up the analogue channels very good but the uhf channels bearly push teh audio and video out from behind teh noise (snow and loud hiss). i'm looking at getting a hd stb with a very good front end to pick out as clean a signal as i can get as replacing/fixing/etc teh antenna is out of teh question i think (i got a lacture from maintenance and was pointed to mr antenna but being on teh invalid pension i help my ground) opps sorry for teh ramble. i saw that two boxes were recommended the healing hht 891 and a topfield tf7000ht i think, don't quote me. i also found a mention of a mob from melbourne (yes i live in sydney) who wee happy to send me a topfield tf7000ht should i wnat one .. my question is will this beastie do teh job ??? is there a better one ? what sort of price range. i've saved up for nearly three years now, here a bit there a few silver coins in teh jar sort of savings plan and now i can get a hd stp and i would like a (reasonably) good one i've had enough of teh nordemende to last me a life time. i amd looking to upgrade my hifi sonish to 5.1 whatever, just need some back speakers to fill in behing a pair of jbl L86 studo monnitors i've had for 20 plus years sound as good today as then. also if somebody might be able to send me teh contact details for this place in melbourne it starts with hantron something like that .. i tried google, didn;t know there were that many chinesse take aways in hk and melbourne but not one topfield seling set top box place .. life i guess. sorry for my poor english and messy presentations and bad spellings, sadly some days it gets worse .. i ;ive with severe chronic pain (the kind that requires truckloads of teh medic... i'm rambling again. much kind regards jonathan ps, i recalled a person looking for a copy of a nordemende kmdg-47 manual i've got one here, happy to photocoyp the beastie and post to you, if your still in need... sorry forgot who you are. --
charlesc Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 (edited) also if somebody might be able to send me teh contact details for this place in melbourne it starts with hantron something like that Jonathan, to at least get you started, Hantrex web site is http://www.australiandigitaltv.com/ ...i saw that two boxes were recommended the healing hht 891 and a topfield tf7000ht i think, don't quote me. Both units get good comments re their reception ability in poor conditions. I'm not sure about stock availability with the Healing at the moment though. I believe a new unit is about to come out. charlesc Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Jonathan, not sure I can help much with advice re the hi-fi gear, it's been a while since I got my stuff. If it helps, I've purchased from Hantrex before, Matthew there is very good at helping out, and following up with things. If you need some advice or help with making the most of whatever digital signal you have available to you in your home, PM me. I'd be happy to help out by calling over some day when I am passing through your area. I seem to be going past Mascot quite a bit recently. It may at least help you get a reliable signal with your new HD STB.
alanh Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 jmichaels, Please read Get the best reception post for Sydney You are best getting a Wideband UHF Yagi antenna for Kings Cross transmitters. They are physically smaller that the standard Sydney antenna. The other alternative is to try one of the antennas I have recommended in the link to indoor antennas in the above post. AlanH

I'm not sure about stock availability with the Healing at the moment though. I believe a new unit is about to come out. I spoke to Lacey's TV last week about Getting a Healing HD STB, they said they are currently out of stock, sent an order in early/mid April and should be receiving the order in early June.
digitalj Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 The new HD Healings will have a different chipset. will it be better or about the same as the HHT890?
mtv Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 will it be better or about the same as the HHT890? Probably similar. From what I'm told, they (the chipsets) are being sourced from a different supplier, but I know Peter Lacy is fussy about quality, so they will be as good, if not better than the previous offering.
