Guest EZYHD Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 We see Mokbel is back in OZ to face the music and the media is carrying on over the cost of getting this fugitive home on a private jet @ $450K, but didn't the Gov, get something like $1million from a relative when he skipped bail?.
mwd Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Good point wonder if it was an IOU You do just scratch your head sometimes though at the loonies in this country. Why not just stick him on a Qantas flight with 2 big coppers as minders ? Perth Airport closed for 12 hours by plastic flowers WTF. 150 police, helicopters, bikes and cars to pull over and issue tickets to 100 Bikers in South Australia. WTF ( Sunday programme on Nine today ). Plastic knives on International Flights into Australia. Big glass wine bottles on the trolley. WTF The list goes on.

The D-Train Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Maybe they cant take it out of his match payments from the West Coast Eagles

ajm1503559545 Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 The million $ surety wasn't paid and Sister-in-law, Renata, went to gaol for it. The assets seized from fat Tony will more than cover the cost of the trip home. Worry not folks, we're in the black on this deal.
shrek Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 For the drugs he should go to prison, but for the murders i think he did the world a favour. As did Carl Williams.

Thudd1503560234 Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 I wouldn't be surprised if part of the exercise was to send a message of "Don't think you can hide in foreign climes and make us balk at the cost, we'll get you no matter where you are or what it takes."
Louie Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 I don't know if it was a joke or not, but it had been mentioned a few times on tv talking programs (watching mornings before going to work), regarding putting him on a commercial flight with a couple armed guards, or using a defence force plane. Neither would be feasible. The defence force plane would no doubt cost more money to the tax payers then the chartered flight would. As for being on a commercial plane, would you want yourself or loved ones on a flight with convicted felons? Would you feel safe, no matter how many people guarding the guy. All he has to do is get it announced that he'll up $x amount of money and people will no doubt try to help him out. Sure it won't be announced what flight he's on, but once he's there it won't be too difficult to guess what flight he's on. Plus if something were to happen to the plane, a struggle or what not, then there's more lives at risk as well. Either way the media was going to bash the choice, putting him on a commercial flight the media would be yelling due to the danger, chartering a flight the media is yelling because of the cost to taxpayers. Hopefully they can recoup a whole lot of money, though I'd bet they've gone through much more then $450k in finally getting him back to this country, before factoring in any flights.

Yep - we can't have another Skasey thumbing his nose at us from some European backwater.
