Does anyone know how to get the Onkyo 875 to trigger the Elektra Theatron on and off ?

There is a 12v trigger on the back of the Onkyo but this is to trigger a Zone 2 device.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This has got me intrigued cause I downloaded the manual and don't see how to do it either (short of trading in your amp ;) ).

There must be a way.

What about if you just let zone 2 fire up with the main? Will that allow it to work?

Do you mean connect the Elektra trigger to the Zone 2 trigger ?

I posted this back in March and still have them......

I've set up my cabinet with some cooling fans running off a 240v to 12v transformer which is connected to the euro 2 pin 240v out, at the back of the 875. Now when the 875 turns on, my cabinet automatically cools.

I ordered a couple of extra cables ready to be converted in the same manner. They are the 250v rated male 2 pin euro plug one end with a figure eight female on the other (which is chopped and replaced with an Aussie female 3 pin). They're 1.5m long.

I couldn't find any such cable in Australia.

If anyone's interested in one of these cables for $15 plus whatever it cost to post it you, let me know. Only 2 left.

So Shorty .. I use the 240volt pin plug to connect to a transformer that converts to 12v output. You plug that in to the Elektra 12 volt trigger IN ?

PM sent ....

Thanks Joz for your reply. Where can I get such a contraption ? Is it a normal power plug that goes into the back of the Onkyo 875 ?

This was one of the reasons I opted for the integra 7.8. I didn't see this thread before I commited to the integra :). It's frustrating not having the trigger as an assignable item.

Hi again Mr C,again this contraption is available from good ol Jaycar.

I'm assumming though that your receiver has a 240 volt out on the back.

If it has you just plug it in there.

The contraption looks much like a mobile phone charger but with the output pins suiting the inputs on the E7.

In case you get there and need to know,it has a positive center pin.

Check out the triggered pwer boards while there. :)
