Vidiotic Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 Hi guys, We have had our new rig for less than a month, and seems our run with dodgy electronics continues.(send the slightly sus batch to Australia, they're far away ) Our new 50 inch Samsung plazzy lasted a bit over a week before the sound died. A complete new mainboard went in the other day.OK for now. Now our Homecast is playing up a bit. Besides being pretty noisy, mainly at boot up if we turn it on from being totally off at back switch.Standby noise we can put up with, it is now losing signal. While watching through the box and surfing channels,it just stops sending a signal to TV. The ID from box comes up along bottom of screen, but TV says no signal. Change to next channel, same thing. The solution so far is to turn the whole thing off,and reboot. Must say we have been pretty happy with it except for this. Has anyone else had similar problems? Maybe JB gets it back? It would be nice if a Homecast tech responds. Cheers, Shane.

You could post on the Homecast forum, but it sounds like you have a faulty box, so either taking it up with your retailer or DPG (who are responsible for the manufacturer's warranty in Aust) would seem to be more likely to actually fix your problem than hoping for a response on a forum.

On one of those errors if you wait up to a minute it can come back. If it doesn't I have to do a switch off/on. That problem and the video stutter I get spoils the unit. I have been hoping for a firmware fix to both problems.

It records great. So easy to replay and fast forward. I was possibly thinking that maybe its a heat related problem? I havent seen any stutter as yet. About the heat, maybe when it gets a bit hot the CPU fails a little bit.bit like a PC. May have to wind back the reverse cycle a bit. Cheers, Shane.
Vidiotic Posted May 23, 2008 Author Posted May 23, 2008 Mod,maybe move this post to Homecast post? I shoulda put it there I know. Cheers, Shane.
