Denon Bluray Players

Hmm, tried to post this on Thursday but lost in the ether / board glitch ?

In Tokyo earlier this week and saw the just released full Bluray/DVD/CD player from DENON on the showroom floor. Not running a video display at the time. That model was the full spec Bluray/DVD/CD player with the Bluray hi-def audio decoders onboard and there is another (not physically on display at that time) being a transport version to output to a AVR having the decoders onboard so you don't have to pay for the decoders twice. Retail price in Japan is 336,000 Yen (full) and 231,000 (transport). Store had them on sale for about 10% off those prices.

Doesn't seem to be anything on DENON UK site yet ?

For Oz, APG website shows the transport (not the full player) and a dedicated processer box (also on the DENON USA site). Don't know Aussie RRP.

Not on my shopping list just yet but interesting gear all the same.

not released anywhere apart from japan and us.

the transport supposedly goign to be $1899 here. the 3800 player is not going to get here till 09 apparently and can jsut imagine its price then even though and probably outdated by that stage as well ! the top level denon cant do sacd/dvda either nor has denon link which is a bit dissapointing.

not sure how good a buy the denon transport is right now. still a bit buggy by the looks reading on avs. and a bit overpriced here given the rrp. the pana bd30 probably better buying plus theres a raft of new pios coming from a entry level bitstreaming player to internal decoding and top level universal player.
